I am a facial plastic surgeon, but a budget ingredient is crucial for youthful skin
A facial skincare specialist has revealed an ingredient that all beauty lovers should have in their skincare routine.
He said the skin care product is crucial for maintaining a youthful appearance and also shared his two-part DIY mask.
Kopelman Aesthetic Surgery, facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Joel Kopelman has over 35 years of experience performing facelifts, eyelid surgery, brow lifts and hair transplants.
He told The US Sun about his favorite anti-aging products and shared some budget-friendly tips.
BUDGET BEAUTY
Kopelman gave some affordable tips for getting youthful-looking skin.
In particular, he emphasized the importance of paying attention to a number of key ingredients.
The first is hyaluronic acid.
“Hyaluronic acid is crucial for maintaining skin hydration, which directly affects its youthful appearance,” he says.
Another favorite is retinol, which is “particularly effective at promoting cell renewal.”
It reduces fine lines and improves overall skin texture.
“Peptides are excellent for stimulating collagen production, which supports skin elasticity,” he says.
He recommended trying many drugstore brands, as they “offer products with these ingredients that are both effective and affordable.”
DIY TASKS
There are also a number of natural and DIY skin care methods that are not too expensive.
“I recommend simple DIY treatments, like a honey-yogurt mask, which can nourish and hydrate the skin,” he said.
In his New York City practice, he stresses the importance of hydration, “both internally and externally.”
“Drinking plenty of water is essential for healthy skin. Well-hydrated skin looks plumper and more vital,” he says.
He also stressed the need for sun protection and regular facial massages to ‘improve circulation and promote a youthful appearance’.
“Using sunscreen daily is one of the most effective ways to prevent premature aging,” he added.

SKINCARE MYTHS
Kopelman also warned of a number of “persistent myths” he hears in his practice.
A common misconception is that oily skin does not need moisturizer.
“All skin types need hydration. The most important thing is to find a noncomedogenic moisturizer that won’t clog pores,” he explains.
People often think that expensive products are always better, but he emphasizes that this is often not the case.
“Many budget-friendly options contain the same active ingredients as their more expensive counterparts,” he said.
He warned that it is “important to proceed with caution” when using natural or homemade skin care products, as they “may be irritating or cause allergic reactions.”
