I am a soccer player and swear by drugstore products for my skin, it gives me Botox forehead
A FOOTIE WAG has proven she’s still down to earth when it comes to her skincare, with a drugstore purchase being named her “number one product”.
Ellie Butler is the childhood sweetheart of former Celtic midfielder Liam Shaw, who signed a loan deal with Wigan Athletic last summer.
She regularly shares her shopping and beauty purchases with her followers on social media.
And although her dressing room is filled with designer bags and shoes, the modest Wag still loves a bargain in her make-up bag.
In a recent videothe recently engaged blonde beauty revealed her “number one product” that she swears by for glowing skin.
She said, “This is my second or third bottle of this product.
“I definitely feel like it’s changed the texture of my skin. I’ve never really had bad skin. I’ve never really had acne-prone skin, I feel like it’s pretty normal.
“But I used to have these bumps under my skin, you know, spots that you can’t squeeze, and I feel like this has really changed it.
“I feel like my forehead is getting Botoxed, even though I’ve never had Botox before.
“It gives me such a beautiful glow.”
The product in question is the Revitalift Clinical 12% Pure Vitamin C Serum from L’Oréal.
The 30ml bottle promises “pure vitamin C in every drop,” leaving skin looking more radiant and smooth.
According to L’Oréal bosses, it is clinically proven to correct and protect against the first signs of ageing: it evens out skin tone, reduces pores and softens lines.
And the best part? The £32 serum is currently half price at Boots and Superdrug, costing just £15.99.
Ellie adds: “I use this twice a day, morning and night, as a skincare routine.
“I apply this to fresh skin, it’s the first product I use in my routine.
“I don’t have an extravagant routine. I just apply a few dabs to my hands and then literally smear it everywhere.
“And I feel like it makes my skin glow. Honestly, I feel like my skin has been transformed by this product.”
Ellie isn’t the only one who loves it, by the way; the serum has already received countless five-star reviews.
One beauty fan raved, “This is definitely my favorite everyday serum and it’s affordable! I’m almost done with this bottle but I’ll definitely be repurchasing it.”
Another chimed in: “I’m in my early 30s and I love using this product every morning. It really does what it says on the tin and makes my skin look healthy and plump. It brightens it up too.”
Meanwhile, a third said: “I love this VitaminC Serum! It’s my new favourite serum in my skincare routine.
“It makes my skin feel tight and taut. It looks dewy and radiant. I’m in love with it.”
Biggest Beauty Flaws
Tara Ledden, beauty editor of Fabulous, shares the do’s and don’ts of beauty.
“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you don’t get the basics right, everything else is wasted.
“There aren’t many things you can’t negotiate, but these are the biggest cosmetic mistakes that are sabotaging your regime.”
- Do not use SPF: Sun damage is the number one cause of premature skin aging, so if you want to keep your skin looking firm and radiant, sunscreen is essential.
- Use of products whose expiration date has passed: At best, they are ineffective and do not deliver the results they promise, at worst they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products varies – for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months, while lipstick is good for 9-18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and has a number inside it for how many months it is safe after opening. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it out and start over, marking the month and year on the packaging with a permanent marker.
- Not knowing your undertone: If you use makeup with the wrong undertones, it will never look natural, no matter how much you mix it! An easy trick to figure out if you have cool, warm, or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they look green, you have warm, and if they’re a mix, you have neutral.
- Skip heat protectant: It may seem unnecessary, but just like sun damage to the skin, excessive heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So if you want shiny, healthy hair, or if you want to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is essential.
- Not washing your face before bed: it’s as simple as this, if you don’t wash your face before you go to bed, whatever has been on your skin during the day will stay there longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare you apply on top won’t be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’ll probably end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!
Vlogger Ellie has been with her football boyfriend since before he joined Celtic.
Liam, who spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic, proposed to his girlfriend Ellie during a holiday in Jamaica in May.
The childhood sweethearts met when Liam was working at Sheffield Wednesday.
His time at Celtic has not really paid off on the pitch, with the 23-year-old having made just two appearances for the club since arriving under Ange Postecoglou in 2021.
In previous seasons he was loaned to Motherwell and Morecambe and despite all the turmoil he and Ellie have come on strong.
When Ellie shared the news of their engagement on social media, accompanied by a photo of her huge diamond ring, she said: “Forever and ever.”
