The mother responded on TikTok to a comment from a cruel troll who said: “Every day is a day off for lazy Universal Credit payers like you.”

Sophie responded by saying she is entitled to Universal Credit because she has fallen on “hard times” and lost her job due to a medical condition.

“I wish I didn’t have it, but unfortunately I do and it has ruined my life,” she said of the condition, which has no name.

Despite her problems, Sophie tries to stay positive and is grateful every day that she can “live, laugh and love”.

The mother added that if she had not received school food vouchers, she would have had to go to a food bank to feed her children.

“These are things that exist for people who are struggling,” she said.

Sophie assured that she has not abused the benefits system and that she is simply doing her best to provide for herself and her family.

She said that people constantly blame themselves for not being able to afford things for their children, adding that she understands how difficult it is for people to deal with this.

Sophie also hopes to one day make money from TikTok, saying she would “laugh” if she got paid to respond to trolls’ nasty comments.
