A NHS nurse who could not to fall off Because of diets, she revealed how she lost the 8th without resorting to lean jabs such as Mounjaro.
With a BMI of almost 50, out of 18th and a size 28, Rhianna Berry, 26, from Grantham, knew that she could not roam with her long -term partner, she had trouble working and felt that she was eating herself in an early grave.
Working in A&E Rhianna was worried by reports of people who ran complications through the injections, ranging from side effects such as nausea and vomiting to more serious side effects, including loss of muscles and bone density.
But her route to losing the 8th has still ‘shocked’ people who think she has taken a huge ‘risk’ to achieve her goal.
In the summer of 2022, Rhianna, then 24, flew to Turkey for bariatric surgery to finally deal with her weight. Since she was 15th on a constant stream of diets and appetite -suppressing pills, she thought it was her only hope.
“I was only 24 with so much to live for – a great partner, family and job – but I ate myself in an early grave,” she said.
“I had constant knee and back pain, and crucial I knew that our chances of having the family that we always wanted were almost impossible with my weight.”
There were also humiliating incidents to contend with her size.

Rhianna’s BMI is now in the Lage 20S. Now only the 10th and a size 8, Rhianna says she’s feeling that she is reborn
In January 2022 she went to Alton Towers with her partner Louis and her team for a special ‘Blue Light Rewards’ day.
What a nice – and free – event had to be for her and her team to reward them for their work on the front line was her idea of hell.
Rhianna said, “I was more than the 18th and morbid obese, so the idea to try to fit into a roller coaster while I was viewed by all my colleagues was just terrible.”
Rhianna climbed in the chair in front of the ‘Air’ stroke next to Louis, but as she feared, the safety bars would not click in position because of her huge thighs and belly.
“Everyone waited while three servants and Louis all tried to push it down, I tried to suck in desperately, but nothing worked,” she said.
‘I then had the walk of shame past everyone on the roller coaster and in line, hidden around the corner to sagging my eyes during humiliation.
‘I had to bring myself together before they all got out and saw me again, jokes:’ Well, I was clearly too fat for that! ‘As a way to deviate the issue, so that the sting of what everyone thought was.
“As always, I turned myself into a joke before someone else could do that.”

After she had already talked to her doctor about help, she had offered a reference on the NHS path, but was told that an operation would not be a possibility for at least three years – by that time, Rhianna feared that she might be dead.
“I just knew that diets did not work for me, and I had paid for years of counseling to make sure that I was mentally prepared, so the last part would be in the puzzle – but British clinics brought more than £ 12,000 to the operation that we just didn’t have,” she said.
But after he had completed a nursing diploma and understood the importance of solid data to make important medical decisions, Rhianna decided to start investigating foreign clinics.
“There was so much stigma to go abroad for stomach surgery, but the more I looked at it, the more I realized how there were real risks with British clinics – almost 40 dead,” she said.
Spending week and evenings with analyzing dozens of clinics, she says that the data she mentioned on a in Turkey has made smart, a clear winner.
“The statistics showed a small number of complications, the number of security protectors was so rigorous and I knew what to look for, what I had to ask before I signed up,” she said. ‘The operation would only cost me £ 2,800 including flights, so I would save the NHS thousands, an institution that I give deep about.
‘If there is nothing else, I would enjoy the next three years of my life instead of constant pain, I would save the NHS loads more in medication and consultation time due to health problems with regard to my weight. It was a no-brainer. ‘
But when she told Louis and other friends and family her plan, she always says that she had worried. But when she explains that with her medical background she knew exactly what she was doing, she says she finally came up with the idea.

Weight loss operation in Turkey cost £ 2,800 including flights and Rhianna saw it as a way to save the NHS money in the long term

For her weight loss, Rhianna would eat huge portions of pizza, garlic bread and cookies that had hardly touched the sides. But after the operation (right) a small part of chicken fillet and some peppers had hair full

Rhianna said she decided to surgery after months of creaking data and knew she was doing the right one
“I even told them that I took free time as an unpaid vacation – it would not be fair to do something else,” she said.
On June 12, that year, she and Louis Turkey flew and were then transferred to the Gozde Hospital in Kusadasi, where she underwent her stomach sleeve surgery.
Because she had used the sour reflux medication Omeprazole for nine years, doctors soon realized that she also had a hernia, so that repair also needed. Chose an operation called a fundoplasty, they would use part of her removed stomach to repair the hernia.
“I knew immediately that I was in safe hands,” she said. ‘There was always a translator present, but almost all the staff spoke perfect English. All my vital statistics were accurately monitored before, during and after surgery, I had sewing and drinking a contrast to not confirm gastric leaks, it was so rigorous.
“The only problem I had during my entire stay was stuck in a lift.”
Two weeks later at work, Rhianna was in advance with all her colleagues about her procedure and wanted them to understand why she had been gone, and why she hoped – she would lose weight soon.
“I had fought all my life with my weight, but working on the departments during Covid, with all PPE, people dying and worrying that I would bring this horrible virus to my family, the stress made my weight of about 14 to 18th,” she said.
‘Many of these people I worked with me knew from the inside, we had experienced so much together and they knew how much I had since the pandemic. I owed them to tell them, and they were so happy for me. ‘

Rhianna’s partner Louis has also lost weight, inspired by her slimming trip
“They had seen how my weight had begun to influence my work, how I had trouble pushing beds around, how I was crushed in cabins or ambulances with trolleys, how exhausted I was.”
“It had become Farcic when I give advice to patients to lose weight when I was literally the elephant in the room.”
In her first week after the operation, Rhianna lost 18 pounds – by October she had lost 52 pounds, or 3.5th. They move from a only-liquid diet, to pureed food, she says that she is closely moving her protein quotient and then moved to small, regular meals.
“I remained religious about my dietician’s plan for six months, knowing how unhealthy I had been before. This was my chance. I was from eating huge take -away restaurants for pizza, garlic bread and cookies that had hardly touched the sides to a small part of chicken fillet and some peppers that felt filled me. ‘
Now only the 10th and a size 8, Rhianna says that she feels she is reborn. Her weight loss even inspired Louis to fall from the 18th to 13.5th with diet and training changes.
‘Louis introduced me on October 7 and we are planning to get married in 2026 before we try to have a family. I previously had a BMI of almost 50, now that is in the Low 20S, I have no fault, I have saved the NHS a fortune. ‘
‘Last week seen the news about the other nurse who died of complications after using lean jabs, and all other horror stories around people who use it without the right support, it is just madness that bariatric surgery gets such a bad press.
“People I now tell about my journey are still in shock that I would have taken this ‘risk’, but when you read celebrities that crows about how much weight they have lost with the help of Ozempic or one of the other pricks for weight loss – even though you are not a obstacle or diabetic, so clear without a trained doctor, it makes me.”
‘The message is to do your research. After months of creaking data I went here and knew I was doing the right one. Not only I don’t regret anything, this was the best choice I’ve ever made. ‘
