Taking to Reddit, she explains that she has experienced what is known as genetic sexual attraction, or GSA.

It is a condition in which people are attracted to close relatives, usually those they meet later in life, because of the familiar feeling they bring, without an incest taboo.

And this was very much the case for the woman who spoke out in hopes of “dispelling the misconceptions surrounding GSA.”

In the recently surfaced post, she explains: “My parents did the best they could and I love them, but I always kept wondering who my birth parents were.

“When I was finally old enough, I started looking for my birth mother, as I knew her name.”

She explains that after much research, she finally found her birth mother, who agreed to meet her to “get to know her.”

“Eventually the subject of my biological father came up. “I grew up knowing that my birth mother probably didn’t know who the father was simply because she was a teenager at the time,” she writes.

“I always thought I might find her, but never in a million years did I think I would find him.”

After making contact with him, the woman explains that she felt “excited” after seeing his photos and exchanging messages.

She says: “He is a very personable person and extremely well spoken. We clicked immediately.

“Even without any contact or knowledge of each other for twenty years, we had almost identical senses of humor, similar interests and taste in music. . .I could go on.”

She explains that she and her father stayed up all night talking, even though she had a boyfriend and he had been married for 20 years.

“My boyfriend got very jealous early on, and so did his wife, because we just gave each other a lot of attention,” she adds.

She says that once they met, their relationship became even more “intense” and they were “attached at the hip.”

But during their second visit, things got “out of hand.”

“He and I were talking in the dark at night,” she remembers.

‘I don’t know what I was thinking, but as we were talking I instinctively leaned over and kissed him. And I didn’t stop, and it didn’t stop at just kissing.

“At that moment we put ourselves in a very complicated and difficult situation that would unfold over many years.”

The Redditor explains that she grew closer to her father as their relationship continued.

“I was basically the ‘other woman’ in his life at that time,” she says.

“We had to pretend to those around us that nothing was wrong, even though many people suspected this because we were not behaving in the typical ‘father/daughter’ way.”

WHAT IS GENETIC SEXUAL ATTRACTION?

Genetic sexual attraction (GSA) is when sexual feelings develop between two family members who first meet as adults.

It can happen to parents and children, siblings and half-siblings, usually when someone has been abandoned, adopted, or raised apart due to divorce or separation.

In Britain, sex with a parent, child, sibling, cousin, uncle or aunt is defined as incest and is illegal under the Sexual Offenses Act 2003.

People who commit such crimes face a prison sentence of up to two years.

The term GSA was coined in America in the 1980s by Barbara Gonyo, who founded a support group after her experience with the son she met 26 years after adoption.

Explaining how his wife had become jealous, she adds, “It’s really hard to explain the conflict of emotions there.

“I wanted to be with him, I wanted them gone, but at the same time the child inside me wanted to have that perfect reunion and a post-reunion life that I always wanted.”

A few years later, her father divorced his wife and moved in with his daughter.

She adds, “I felt terrible about what happened to their marriage, but at the same time I wanted her out of the picture, because I was in love with him in a way that I had never felt before, and that I don’t believe I’ve ever done that. will ever feel again.”

The woman explains that they both struggled with immense guilt, but somehow “survived the ordeal.” They are still in a relationship, but have no plans to have children.

“When we meet people now, we portray each other as boyfriend/girlfriend,” she says.

“Sometimes I forget that we are related because a lot of time has passed since the above events happened.”

She adds: “We love each other deeply and I can’t imagine ever being with anyone else.”
