I became a millionaire doing a job that no one wants – it will drive you crazy
A WOMAN has revealed she became a millionaire by doing work no one else wanted to do.
Thanks to what started as a side hustle, Auri Kananen, 30, from Tampere, Finland, was able to cash in by becoming a housekeeper.
Auri originally started cleaning houses for free in 2020, while still working her main job as a cleaning supervisor during the week.
But after posting clips on social media of Auri documenting her work and sharing cleaning tips with viewers, she has now been able to attract sponsors and advertising revenue.
Now Auri, who started cleaning at the age of 16 while still in school, has more than 10 million followers on TikTok and could earn as much as $500,000 from her YouTube channel alone.
The social media star explained: “Cleaning is fun – the best thing ever. I absolutely love it. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction. Happy, very relaxed – as if my life is complete.

“I remember being excited to have 100,000 followers, but now it’s crazy to have 10 million – it’s like having my own cleaning crew. I am very grateful.
“The money hasn’t changed who I am, I just love cleaning and sharing it with the world. I love my job. It’s super satisfying when you can wipe off a thick layer of dust. It’s just the best feeling ever.
“I chase this feeling week after week and I always try to find dirtier and dirtier houses.”
Last year Auri launched her cleaning business and now travels the world cleaning houses, visiting Britain, Switzerland and Sweden.
Although many of the properties she cleans are extremely dirty, this is not a problem for the professional cleaner.
Not only does Auri have to pick up trash on her knees, but she’s also seen refrigerators full of moldy food and rats.
The super cleaner previously told Fabulous: “The most extreme was a bathroom that had not been cleaned in six years.
“It was black with mold, the floor littered with trash and bottles of urine and poop – I called it my ‘dirty challenge.’”
Auri explained that her love for cleaning started at an early age, as she confessed: “Our house in Tampere, which we shared with my father and brother, was always spotless.
“At the age of 20, I went to the University of Tampere to study applied sciences, including learning about specialized cleaning and hospitality management.
“Then I got a job as a manager at a large commercial cleaning company that was partly owned by my mother.

“I started working for her full-time in 2012 and realized that the jobs that gave me the most satisfaction were the jobs that other cleaners turned down.
“I first got the idea to share my work on social media during the pandemic in June 2020. I knew people were stuck at home and I wanted to show them how easy cleaning could be.
“So I created accounts on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook and started sharing before and after videos.
“They went viral, got 1.9 million views, doubled that and tripled. In December I had three million followers, and now I have over 10 million on my channels.
“The following June I become self-employed, thanks to my success on social media.”
Auri cleans many of her clients’ homes for free. She added: “My friends and family are proud of me, and although I make a living cleaning, I also do some free stuff, helping people with illnesses.
“I receive so many heartbreaking messages and photos of filthy homes.
“I recently received a message from a woman concerned about her 86-year-old friend with Alzheimer’s who was throwing rotting food in drawers and behind couches.
“Her bathroom was filled with mold and unwashed clothes.
