I begged strangers to help me pay the rent – when they saw my sobs, they did
A NEARLY MONEY woman has revealed she can finally pay her rent after crying online in a desperate bid to earn some cash.
Social media user Claudia Brookes took to TikTok when she realised she wouldn’t be able to pay her rent this month.
In a desperate plea for help, Claudia took drastic measures, uploading a clip of herself crying and bravely talking about her financial problems.
With tears streaming down her face, the young woman admitted that she could not think of a way out of her predicament. If the situation was not resolved, she could become homeless.
“Guys, I really don’t know what to do anymore,” Claudia, who is believed to be from the US, shared on her platform.
“I’m so stressed about money, I don’t even know how I’m going to pay the rent this month.”
According to Claudia, she had tried to become a member TikTok’s Creator Fund – but because she did not reach the required 10k, the application was rejected.
In July 2020, social media giant TikTok launched the Creator Fund, allowing users to earn money by generating views.
While the earnings seem lucrative, there are a few requirements TikTok users must meet to successfully sign up. For example, you must be a legal resident of the US, UK, Germany, Italy, France, or Spain.
Additionally, you must be at least 18 years old, have 10,000 authentic (not purchased) followers, and the videos must have received at least 100,000 authentic views in the 30 days prior to applying, Backstage reports.
According to Chris Kubbernus, CEO of Kubbcoa creative social media agency, you will likely need 50-100 pieces of content to reach the required fan base of 10,000, unless you already have a significant audience through another platform.
There are several factors that play a role in determining the amount of money creators receive, such as the number of views, the authenticity of the views, other forms of engagement such as likes, comments and shares, and the location of the creator.
In general, according to HootSuiteTikTok Creator Fund members can expect to earn two to four cents per 1,000 views.
This means that an influencer who goes viral and has a million monthly views can add just $40 (£30) to their bank account.
After Claudia shared her grief on the popular platform, her video not only received a lot of attention, reaching a whopping 4.1 million views, but she also saw her follower count skyrocket.
Unlike the mere 25 fans Claudia had before the now viral video, she now has a whopping 34,000 followers.
The brunette beauty said extremely gratefully: “I just wanted to take two minutes to thank you after I had a mental breakdown yesterday.”
What is the TikTok Creator Fund?
ACCORDING to TikTok’s official website, the Creator Fund “gives the best and brightest people on TikTok the chance to monetize their creative talent.”
While not a grant or ad revenue program, the Creator Fund offers payments to qualified TikTokers based on a “variety of factors” in their content.
“We want all creators to have the opportunity to make money doing what they love and turn their passion into a career,” the website continues.
There is no limit to the number of qualified TikTokers who can join the fund. Payments can increase or decrease at different times during someone’s presence on the platform.
Factors that influence how much money a qualified TikToker can earn include the number of authentic views per video, the level of engagement, and whether the work falls within the Community Guidelines.
Claudia said she felt “excited” and “really excited” again, now that she was back to normal.
In the follow-up video, the woman said she did have a job and was looking forward to “making some extra money.”
”It just doesn’t cover everything right now and my car just broke down.
“I know it’s easy to judge people here, but I’ll try.”
Dozens of other social media users responded en masse, reacting positively and warmly.
A new follower said: “Congrats sis!!! I followed you right away. I think we all understand how hard it is to deal with money and we FEEL FOR YOU.”
Another wrote: “I wish my life could change like this! It’s tough out here, God bless you girl.”
“I joined but still haven’t earned anything. I can’t get under 200! But God bless you!!” shouted a third.
“Take that money, girl,” said someone else.
