I bought a £30,000 tiny house from Amazon – it’s foldable, but there’s a catch
AS home prices continue to rise, some people have looked to less traditional ways to become homeowners.
One man revealed he bought a small house from Amazon for £30,000.
In its viral videoTikTok user Jeff (@hittaa_jeff) showed his followers around his new home.
He explained that the foldable prefab house that arrived that morning was quickly and easily assembled.
According to Jeff, it took five Amazon workers a total of 27 minutes to set up the house.
The TikToker also revealed that the Amazon specialist he spoke with provided him with two couches for the space.
The employee not only helped him get started on his furniture, but also gave Jeff “upgrades” to the house.
He revealed that she changed the color and increased the square footage to make the space feel “much bigger.”
Before giving a tour of the interior, he pointed out the pipes on the outside of the house and the glass doors.
Inside, Jeff showed his audience the kitchen and living room, where the two free couches were also located.
He also gave viewers a glimpse into his future bathroom and bedroom.
However, he revealed that not every aspect of the tiny house was ideal.
The TikToker pointed out a decor element he wasn’t a fan of in the bathroom.
“I like the bathroom, but I don’t like that everything is plastic, fake marble,” he explained.
Jeff also pointed out a major design issue when it comes to his budget home.
The ceilings are very low, I’m not going to lie, I’m six feet tall, so they’re not too high, they’re very low,” he said.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the tiny house in the comments section.
Frequently asked questions about Tiny Homes
The Tiny House movement started in the US before gaining popularity in Britain.
What is a tiny house?
Tiny houses are small, fully equipped living spaces designed to help you live a more sustainable, off-grid lifestyle. Although they vary in size and shape, small homes typically have a capacity between 150 and 500 square feet, are made of durable materials, and are easier – and cheaper – to maintain than traditional brick homes.
Are tiny houses legal in Britain?
As long as the small house does not exceed 19.8 x 6.7 meters, it is defined as a caravan in UK law. That is why tiny houses are classified as legal additional living space.
Can you get a mortgage for a tiny house?
The small size and relatively low cost of small homes means that they generally do not qualify for a mortgage. However, there are plenty of options for taking out a loan to finance your dreams of the perfect, portable home.
“Is it just me or do these Amazon homes make for a life-size dollhouse look?” asked one viewer.
“The fact that it comes with a whole bathroom is amazing!!! These are great for really,” said another follower.
“I’m not already on Amazon trying to buy one with no where to put it” said a third person.
“I’m about to buy one and post it on my parents’ property for free,” wrote another TikToker.
““I got my house from Amazon, y’all,” you’ll have the best conversation starter forever,” one viewer joked.
