How to Upcycle Garden Furniture in 3 Steps

There really is no need to spend a fortune on new garden furniture.

Rebecca Miller, Fabulous deputy editor and garden enthusiast, has shared her tips for transforming old, worn-out furniture into furniture that looks as good as new.

“Recycling centers, landfills, thrift stores, and Facebook Marketplace are great places to find cheap secondhand items.

All you need to do is set aside an afternoon to cheer them up. And you can get your kids involved!

Beautiful

Everything looks better after a good scrub.

If in doubt, it is best to use a solution of dish soap and warm water and remove all dirt and dust.

If the furniture can withstand some pressure, why not clean it with a pressure washer?

Let it dry and you will be able to see what you are dealing with.

Refurbish

If the furniture is a little wobbly or you’re not sure how sturdy it is, take a moment to check all of the fasteners and replace or tighten them.

Colour

The quickest way to transform a piece of furniture is with a lick of paint.

When choosing a new color, base it on shades that complement your existing garden design and plants. Most importantly, choose a color that will put a smile on your face.”

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “Fantastic makeover.”

“Well, you learn something new every day,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Looks amazing! I love seeing things being recycled that other people have thrown away……..One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, as they say, you’re helping the planet too, win-win.”
