I bought goth makeup must-haves at Dollar Tree, they are the same as a more expensive brand
A beauty lover found a few must-haves at Dollar Tree to complete her gothic look, items that were similar to those from a more expensive brand.
She saved money because the makeup products were made by the parent company of a well-known cosmetics line.
Reddit user Shebehaunted discovered a secret while visiting her local Dollar Tree.
She grabbed four products and added them to her makeup bag.
While at the discount store, she bought an eyebrow gel, an eyeliner pencil, a liquid lipstick, and a face highlighter from the brand Ioni Cosmetics.
Founded in 2008, Ioni has become popular on TikTok for its costume-like and avant-garde products.
“I saw this collection and the goth in me needed it,” she wrote in a after.
The boxes had a Halloween theme and were named after monsters, such as Frankie, Drac, Miss Invisible and The Phantom.
She bought them because she had used the lashes before and liked them. Plus the price was great.
“Who can beat $1.25?!” she said.
After purchasing the items, “she made a discovery about the makeup being sold at Dollar Tree.”
“It’s literally a reissue of LASplash,” she wrote.
When she recognized the packaging of the products, she realized it might be a copy.
“I did some research and the company that makes this is the same parent company as LA Splash,” she explains.
LASplash Cosmetics is an American beauty brand founded in 1996.
California-based color cosmetics designer and manufacturer Jon Davler became the brand’s parent company in 2001.
Ioni Cosmetics is also owned by Jon Davler, although Blaise Patrick is the founder and CEO.
“It’s the same makeup… for $1.25,” the Redditor wrote.
She admitted she was “overwhelmed” when she heard about the beauty deal.
REDDIT REACTIONS
“I love Ioni. I’ve never seen this packaging before,” commented one Redditor.
They added that they need to make another trip to the Dollar Tree for the brand because “it’s been a while” and “their lashes are amazing.”
“I bought some really nice eyeshadow brushes there, and I don’t mind keeping them, haha,” wrote another.
“Cool! I need to check out Dollar Tree for makeup haha,” one fan said.
