In a post on a Facebook gardening group, the user revealed the budget item she swears by to make her patio shine.

She showed her fellow green-fingered posters what her patio looked like before she got started.

The stone paving showed green discolouration on the tiles and on the grout between them.

“I actually can’t believe it’s the same patio,” she wrote when she shared the after photo.

The Facebook user had completely removed the green coating from the bricks and mortar.

“I tried Wilko Patio Cleaner and Wet and Forget, but neither worked for me,” she explains.

“This was Elbow Grease and [a] pressure washer, I am so happy with the result.”

A 500ml spray bottle of Elbow Grease is available for £1.20 from Tesco.

She said she sprayed the cleaning solution on the stone slabs and scrubbed it in with a brush.

Finally, she used a pressure washer to remove the product and dirt from the patio.

According to the poster, she used up three bottles of Elbow Grease to drink her entire patio.

She added that the cleaner and pressure washer slowed the build-up of dirt.

“I did it a few weeks ago too and it didn’t come up then, but this time I was much more thorough,” she explains.

“You don’t need any special chemicals, just a pressure washer and a good scrubbing.”

Facebook users shared their thoughts on the technology in the comments.

Methods for Cleaning Patio

There are several techniques you can use to clean a dirty patio. These include:

  • Use a pressure washer.

  • Use a cleansing cream, such as The Pink Stuff or Elbow Grease.
  • Sprinkle some baking soda on it and scrub with water and a brush.

“I use Elbow Grease for all my cleaning, it really is magic,” wrote one impressed reader.

“Oh wow this looks amazing,” another user commented on social media.

“That looks fantastic! Well done! I just had my patio installed and now I have to do some scrubbing myself,” said a third person.

“I love pressure washing. I’m 74 and can’t do it all in one go, but I really enjoy doing it, it’s so rewarding,” said another commenter.

“What, what a difference, well done,” wrote one reader.
