I ditched my best friend’s wedding to go to work, but she’s the bad guy here
A WOMAN has divided opinion after revealing she gave up being a bridesmaid at her best friend’s wedding to work instead.
Amy Dikinson, from Queensland, Australia, was originally looking forward to supporting her childhood best friend on her big day.
But that all went downhill quickly when Amy received the invitation, only to realize that the wedding day clashed with a work event already on her calendar.
On TikTok, Amy explained that while the story might portray her in a bad light, it was actually her partner who caused all the drama.
It turns out that the work event wasn’t a minor obligation that Amy could escape, but rather a major event for her own company that she had been thinking about for a long time and had already invested a lot of time and money into.
“My best friend decided to book her wedding on the same day, was this intentional? I think so,” Amy explained in the viral video.
In the clip, the entrepreneur called her former best friend “petty and bitter.”
So Amy made her feelings known loud and clear by tearing up the invitation and sending it back to her friend, along with her bridesmaid dress that she had also cut into several pieces.
Speak with FemailAmy said this isn’t the first time her friend has been so petty, noting that she’s always been a little jealous of her success.
“We went shopping and something looked great and she grimaced and said she hated it – but then something looked terrible and she told us to buy it,” Amy said.
What further convinced Amy that her friend had booked her wedding for the same day on purpose was the fact that it was “a random Thursday in February” – not a day with any meaning to her friend.
“It’s Thursday! That makes it so much worse. Who gets married on Thursday? She definitely did that on purpose,” someone commented on the video.
And another wrote: “Your friend was sabotaging your business!”
Replying to one of the comments, Amy revealed that she blocked her former best friend on social media due to the drama.
Meanwhile, someone else said: “You definitely need to reconsider this friendship and boundaries. She doesn’t sound like your best friend. Best friend and longest friend are different.”
And others suggested Amy should call the venue to see if she had really booked her wedding for the same day.
However, not everyone was convinced by Amy’s story and thought she could do anything to get attention for her company.
“I feel like this story is really good marketing for your event. Not sure if it’s true but it’s terrifying,” one person commented.
“Sorry, but this scream marketing,” said another.
And someone else agreed: “This seems like a really good advertisement for the event.”
