I found no sugar standards in Nestle baby food: JP Nadda | India News – Times of India
An international NGO had alleged that baby food sold in India had higher sugar content than the prescribed sugar content. Nadda said the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken note of this. “Inspections were carried out at the production sites on April 29 and 30. Based on examination of the product, the added sugar per portion was found to be in compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020,” Nadda said.
The limits for sugar in infant food products specified in the regulations are similar to global standards, namely the Codex Alimentarius Commission, which takes into account the recommendation of the World Health Organization when setting food standards.
