A savvy shopper shared his tip for homemade pest control using Dollar Tree purchases.
Instead of generic pest control solutions, they opted for a $1.25 purchase that kept their home bug-free.

A TikToker (@papabruin) shared the money-saving tip in a video that went viral.
During a shopping trip to the Dollar Tree, he bought all the necessary ingredients to make his own insecticide.
The maker grabbed a plant sprayer and bleach.
“You can flush this down the sink and it will get rid of the drain flies and fruit flies that come out of the sink,” he explained, holding the large bottle of bleach.
“It also kills any eggs and larvae they lay in your drain.”
Another handy household item that can also be used as an insecticide is dryer sheets.
To keep mosquitoes away, he simply laid the sheets outside.
For the bugs on his porch, he reached for Pine-Sol, which he normally mixes with a 4:1 ratio of water to repel wasps.
Because he was bothered by cockroaches in his house, he picked up Fabuloso.
“If you clean your floors with this, they won’t want to come in anymore,” he said.
He explained that if you poured the Fabuloso outside, the cockroaches would leave too.
He uses a 1:1 ratio of sugar and baking soda to kill cockroaches already in the house.
He swears by an effective flea repellent: a 1:1 ratio of baking soda and vinegar.
Not only do all of the ingredients cost $1.25 at Dollar Tree, but he added that the homemade solutions are not harmful to the environment and do not leak into the water supply because the ingredients are “natural.”
