I get stuck in seats – I demand airlines build wider seats for my 26th frame
AN influencer dubbed a ‘whale’ has revealed she had to spend thousands of dollars on two plane seats because she couldn’t fit in them.
Alex Aspasia is known for her positive body posture, embracing her curves no matter what.
But when it comes to traveling, it’s not that simple.
The 30-year-old, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 375 pounds, recently returned from a three-week trip to Europe and encountered problems when he tried to squeeze into a standard seat.
Now she plans to visit Paris on Christmas Day, but to ensure a comfortable flight, Alex has had to forgo £6,000 out of pocket as he needed two seats.
“I wish they would have made the seats bigger so everyone could fit in them,” said the size 26 model What’s the jam.
“Not just for plus-size people, but for all travelers.
“Many people, regardless of size, find the current chairs too small and uncomfortable.
“While I don’t expect airlines to change their policies overnight, the current system feels very exclusionary.
“I understand that my ability to purchase two seats comes from a position of privilege, and not everyone has that option, but slightly wider seats should be available.
“Or a transparent process for plus-size people, so they can book without any stigma.”
Alex, from Miami, US, says that while the costly situation doesn’t stop her from traveling, it doesn’t for many of her friends.
She said: “I know that cost and fear can be a significant barrier when it comes to going abroad; it’s something my own friends struggle with.
“Some are afraid to ask for a seat belt extender or are afraid they won’t fit in their seat.
“And others fear the judgment of passengers around them.
“I have personally heard from those in my group who have sat next to someone texting or saying negative words about their height during the flight.
