I got my ears pierced by Claire and it left me permanently disfigured
A WOMAN who claims to have worked at Claire’s Accessories has revealed how she ended up with a deformed ear.
Avril Wright, from Irelandtook to TikTok to share the story that took place while she was reportedly working at the shopkeeper in the shopping street.
According to the 26-year-old blonde beauty, she was actually a “test model” at Claire’s Accessories for an employee “to learn how to do a cartilage piercing.”
Avril opened up about the alleged incident, saying that the person in question had “completely messed up” the first time, meaning she had to try again.
As if that wasn’t ‘bad enough’, the Irish beauty revealed that she had also used a piercing that was inappropriate for her age.
“They pierced me with a baby earring,” she said in the clip.
”They were like, ‘Oh, this is the most beautiful earring, it’s a diamond.’
“But it was really for a six-month-old baby.”
This meant, as she showed the damage, that her ear “didn’t have enough room to swell.”
Although Avril eventually replaced the little guy, it was too late and the young blonde has been left with a huge bump ever since.
“It just kept growing,” she said, showing the keloid that had formed on top of her ear.
Keloids in the ear are firm, rubbery, fibrous lumps that form on the ear after minor trauma, usually after ear piercing.
These can occur in the earlobes, but also in the skin and cartilage higher up on the ear, as was the case with Avril.
Keloids in the ears vary in color, from flesh-colored to pink and dark brown. The bumps may also be itchy or painful.
Fortunately, the keloid condition hasn’t affected her self-confidence. Even those closest to her didn’t know about the lump until the clip appeared on social media.
“Honestly, I got used to it without my friends realizing until I posted this video. And it hasn’t stopped me from getting nice earring holes in other places in my ear. So many people get them.”
Avril added that she has not seen a doctor yet. She explained that the lump does not hurt and that even her mother, who is a nurse, was not too worried about the huge lump.
The former employee wanted to help other beauty lovers and also gave tips on how to avoid an annoying infection when getting a piercing.
“Make sure you wear the right earring so it heals properly. And there’s nothing better than salt water for a piercing,” she told a concerned viewer.
The video, posted on Avril’s TikTok Pagehas been viewed 480,000 times in less than a week and has generated hundreds of comments.
Babies and toddlers getting pierced ears
CAROL Cooper, Sun Doctor, reveals the medical implications of ear piercing in babies and toddlers:
- Ear piercing in babies and toddlers is controversial. On the one hand, it can be seen as a form of child abuse. But it is also widely practiced in many countries and cultures, and is far less of a sexual assault than other procedures that some girls are forced to undergo.
- There are certainly medical dangers.
Infection is one, which is why many pediatricians recommend waiting until at least the first tetanus shot at two months of age. But there are many other potential infections that routine vaccinations do not prevent. Piercing ears in a place that looks clean is no guarantee. - There is a risk of tearing the earlobe if the earring gets caught on clothing or bedding, or if the baby simply pulls on it.
- The earrings can also fall out and are so small that they pose a choking hazard to a baby or young child.
Sometimes a keloid scar develops, leaving an ugly, bumpy scar. - Therefore, it is better to wait until your child is old enough to want to have their ears pierced and to take care of it themselves.
Someone gave the stunner instructions and wrote: ”I made a paste of keloids, soluble aspirin, and then I put the keloids on it. If I keep doing this for a few weeks, it is completely gone for me.
“It takes time, but it works!”
Another said: “Unfortunately, if your body is prone to forming keloid scars, it doesn’t matter how the piercing was done. Any trauma to the skin can lead to keloid scars.
“Ask for a referral for treatment.”
A third wrote: “Oh god those cardboard ears you have to practice with 😳 give me nightmares!”
