According to the financially savvy mum, who works at Sainsbury’s, her handy son completely transformed their living room by building and installing a media wall.

Adding a media wall can significantly improve the overall aesthetics and functionality of your living space.

A media wall integrates your TV, storage space and other components into a stylish and elegant focal point, instantly making the room more visually appealing.

As reported by My BuilderThe cost of a media wall in the UK ranges on average from £500 to a staggering £4,000, with most homeowners spending around £1,500 to £2,500 on materials and installation.

However, to keep costs as low as possible, Melanie and her son spent only a fraction of the price.

Sharing the epic glow-up on the DIY on a Budget Official On the page, the mother said: “My son kindly built us a media wall, he absolutely loves it.”

She also gave the total costs, which included wood for £72, a fireplace from homeware store B&Q for £169 and lamps from Amazon for an affordable £27.

The project also included the use of drywall, which the family already had, further reducing the final cost.

After the talented DIYer assembled the wood, he attached it to the old wall, then added drywall.

Once complete, the giant TV screen was placed just above the chic fireplace, with several empty spaces around it, which were then filled with cute decorations, such as mini planters and silver hearts.

I live in social housing but no one can see it. I gave it a great makeover thanks to Ikea purchases and people are jealous.

The stunning transformation has since taken the social media platform by storm, amassing nearly 3,000 likes so far.

Hundreds of group members responded en masse to the comments to praise the DIYer and tag their friends. They were clearly inspired to build a media wall themselves.

“It looks fantastic,” one fan marveled at the stunning living room.

Another joined in the conversation, writing: “Wow, it looks amazing!
