Reddit user Nicetomeetyou shared the skin care tip in a post.

“My face is super oily. I have tried SO MUCH, but nothing helped,” she said.

Although some products were able to soothe her oily skin, she still struggled with it, she says.

“I would have to dab it at least four or five times a day,” she said.

On impulse, she decided to smear her baby’s diaper rash cream on her face.

“This type of Desitin is 40 percent zinc oxide. I only need to use a tiny bit,” she said.

The cream is available on Amazon for $7.25 with a 31 percent discount, using a $0.90 code.

“One day, my daughter’s Desitin was on my dressing table,” she said.

“I applied it to my T-zone and then I applied foundation, which normally doesn’t do anything special.”

To her surprise, the $8 cream significantly reduced the amount of oil in her skin.

“OMG it worked! I’ve been doing this for about five months,” she said.

“I can go all day without having to blot even once.”

And the best part is that a tube of cream lasts for ages, without her having to put in much effort.

Thanks to the cream’s original purpose, beauty enthusiasts raved about the fact that it also worked well in preventing skin irritation.

“I applied this to a nasty skin irritation and the relief was magical and almost instant,” said one reviewer.

“Be patient, this stuff is persistent.”

“I am 67 and have developed a nasty rash from the heat. A friend recommended Desitin, which I thought was only for babies,” said another.

“She laughed and said she’s been using it for years. Well…it works! It now has a place of honor in my medicine cabinet.”

Others shared tricks that helped with their sweaty and oily skin.

A viewer explained that they use deodorant under their armpits to prevent sweating.

“It’s not quite the same, but… I admit I do put antiperspirant on my forehead when I go out in the heat,” she said.

“And also under my breasts. I might go to skin care hell for this, but it really works.”

One woman said the cream is a ‘must have’ for retinol users.

“This is great for the skin on [the] “It’s bad facial skin, especially if you’re using retinol,” she said.

“My side effects from retinol became less severe and I was able to use it every other day. [It] helps against flaking and burns associated with retinol side effects.

“This is also great for dark underarms, knees, arms and intimate areas to lighten the skin.”
