She explained their first interaction and talked about the moment she realized they had a family connection.

“I started dating again and started talking to this guy. Honestly, it was a great conversation and we got along really well,” the poster said.

“We had a lot in common in terms of what we were looking for and the vibe was just really good.”

However, the Redditor soon discovered she had more in common with her match than she liked.

She explained that there were some indications that they lived close to each other, but there was nothing that made her suspect that they were part of the same family.

“He lived in a town where some of my family was from, but I didn’t really think much of it, and I don’t know much about that side of my family,” she said.

She explained that she wasn’t “super close” to the family members in the area and had never spent much time with them.

Still not noticing the warning signs, the two took the conversation a step further.

“We took it off the dating app and decided to FaceTime. We were on the phone for an hour,” she wrote.

My 33 year old date asked me to cut his food for him – his reasoning left me stunned, then he got mad that I refused

“When his last name was mentioned, I became very quiet.”

She said her match asked her if she knew his cousin and she realized he was talking about her cousin.

“I thought to myself, ‘Oh my God,’ I panicked and was staring at the flashing phone the whole time,” she recalls.

“I told him that I think it would be best if we went to bed and that we shouldn’t have any more conversations after that.”

She abruptly ended the call and refused to answer when her match asked her for her last name.

Can I marry my cousin in the UK?

Worldwide, more than 10 percent of marriages are between second-degree cousins.

In the UK there is no legal barrier to a relationship between two cousins.

This means that if you fall in love with your aunts’ and uncles’ children, there is nothing stopping you from eventually getting married.

If you are over 18 years of age, you may do this without the permission of your legal guardian or parent.

In the past, marriages between cousins were very common in Europe, especially among the elite.

“I just said I really have to go [and] I ran to Facebook and went straight to this cousin’s site [profile] and lo and behold, there he is,” she said.

The Redditor explained that she blocked the man’s profile photo and deleted him from the dating app.

“I was so panicked because this is so wrong,” she said.

However, she did indicate that there was no blood relationship between her and her former partner, and that they were connected through marriage.

“It’s related to my father’s sister’s husband somehow. I think it’s his brother’s child,” she said.

“So even though he and I share a cousin, we’re not really related,

“It’s still strange and I’m sad and disappointed, but I’m glad we found this before anything went wrong.”

She explained that they had already gone on a date before she realized it.

“Luckily we made all that clear before we met in person, because if anything had happened I would have just driven off a bridge,” she said.

Reddit users shared their thoughts on the situation in the comments.

“It was a simple mistake that you caught before any damage was done. You could argue that given that he’s not a blood relative, there wouldn’t have been much damage done anyway,” one reader noted.

“I once had this happen to my cousin’s cousin. I saw that they had that whole family as mutual friends on Facebook. We’ve never met or anything but it’s still funny,” wrote another Redditor.

“You panicked, blocked him and are overreacting. Poor b*****d is probably so fucking confused but honestly, better for him. You don’t sound very mature,” a third person commented.
