The 28-year-old revealed that she suffered from androgenic alopecia, also known as female hair loss, a condition that affects both men and women.

In women, hair loss usually starts with thinning on the top of the head, just like Hannah had.

There are several reasons why this type of hair loss occurs, but the most common in women is hormonal imbalances.

Hannah showed off the bald spots in her hair for the first time from a year ago; you could visibly see where her hair loss was at the back and top of her head.

Everything you need to know about hair loss

Marie Nieuwoudt, group education manager at CLOUD NINE told Fabulous everything you need to know about hair loss.

What are the most common causes of hair loss?

Marie explained: “There are so many reasons why someone might experience hair loss.

“The main reason is usually hormonal changes or underlying health conditions (such as thyroid disease) and stress
natural also plays a big role in changes in the health of your hair.

“But another common everyday cause is excessive damage to your hair caused by mistakes in your styling routines – and this is a
big one to be aware of for people who regularly apply heat to their hair!

“It’s important to know the right temperature for your hair type when using styling tools as this is essential to reducing unintentional heat damage.

“I also see that many people experience hair loss due to hereditary conditions that are passed on from generation to generation.”

What are the best hairstyles that people should try to reduce their hair loss?

According to Marie, “Less is more when it comes to hair loss! It’s important to be gentle with your hair, so a style that is low maintenance and limits pulling on your scalp is the best option.

“Putting your hair in a tight ponytail or adding hair clips can cause stress points at the roots.

“Try letting your hair down or loose instead.

“You are not limited in your options, but it pays to be conscious about your hair styling. It is essential to use tools that limit damage to your hair.

“Discussing your concerns with a hairdresser or hair loss specialist is also a great way to find styles that suit your specific needs, while still ensuring you look and feel your best.”

How long does it take for hair loss to stop?

If you want to know when your hair will grow back, Marie confirms: “Hair loss is a personal journey – and it’s different for everyone, so it’s very difficult to put exact timing on this process.

“Every head of hair is unique, and so is your experience with hair loss.

“As always, you can talk to a professional hairdresser or trichologist about your specific concerns and hair changes, and they can help you meet those expectations.

“I can’t stress enough how important it is to be kind to your hair. Most people are quite rough with their hair, and this is something you definitely want to avoid if you’re dealing with hair loss.

“Make sure you choose products and styling routines that you know will be good for your hair, rather than causing additional damage.”

People were quick to praise her results and thank her for the ray of hope in the battle against their own hair loss.

One person wrote: “You encouraged me to start.”

Another commented: “Hey! Congratulations!!! That’s a great result!”

“This gives me hope for my hair,” wrote a third.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “Amazing results. I hope you’re doing well. Your hair looks fantastic.”

“Unbelievable!” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “This gives me a little hope! I’ve been on oral minoxidil for a week now and my hair looks like it used to.”
