I had bald spots along my hairline – an oil from Amazon helped them grow back quickly

A NEW mother was left with bald spots after having her baby.

Hair loss after giving birth is a common side effect of pregnancy. However, one woman felt very self-conscious about losing so much hair at the front of her hairline.

The new mother said she felt insecure about the bald spots on either side of her head

In an Amazon review, the mother explained: ‘After having my first child, I suffered a lot from postpartum hair loss and had two huge bald spots on either side of my head.

“I felt so insecure about it and I was devastated!

“I couldn’t even wear my hair in a ponytail or any other hairstyle because I was afraid it would show.

“And then I found this oil and saw other reviews and before and after photos, so I just had to try it!”

The oil she was talking about was Thrive Hair Oil from Forest & Shore.

It’s available on Amazon for £18.99 for a 100ml bottle.

It is said to be a 100 percent natural hair growth oil, “each ingredient in this treatment has been carefully selected to stimulate blood flow, thus supporting and accelerating hair growth”.

Rosemary oil is a known DHT blocker that helps reduce hair loss, while castor oil, baobab oil, and coconut oil all strengthen the scalp and prevent hair follicles from becoming damaged.

The oil is also rich in vitamins: argan oil, avocado oil, olive oil and almond oil all help restore moisture to your hair and retain proteins, preventing hair breakage.

But did it work? The new mother posted a number of before and after photos alongside her review.

She said: “I’m sure the pictures speak for themselves! But it definitely works.

“It’s been about three to four months now and I’ve been using it every week. Sometimes I’ve skipped it, so it’s not even that consistent.

“I only applied it to those spots and the hair grew back immediately!

“Much thicker too, you can tell they are new hairs as they are much shorter compared to the rest of my hair, but I’m glad I don’t have those bloody bald spots anymore!”

For best hair growth results, the brand recommends the ‘Hair Mask Application Method’.

But is she the only one whose hair started growing again by using this oil?

Thrive Hair Oil by Forest & Shore has 7,028 reviews, with 4.4 out of 5 stars.

According to Amazon, more than 3,000 people have purchased the item in the past month.

One user commented: “I’ve only been using this oil for a month and wow! My hair has grown so much thicker and faster.”

Another said: “As a mother of a one-year-old, my hair lacks vibrancy and feels thin and broken. I’ve only been using this for a short time, but I can already see a difference!”

A third review said: “I have had very dull, broken and just plain unhealthy hair from the colouring and bleach damage. However, since using your product, in the short time that I have been using it, my hair has grown significantly and feels much fuller and looks much healthier.

The scalp oil mask for the night consists of 4 steps:

  1. Apply the oil directly to your scalp using the pipette or place two to five full pipettes in the palm of your hand.
  2. Massage the oil thoroughly but gently into your scalp and comb through to ensure the lengths and ends are also covered.
  3. Let it sit overnight or for at least two hours.
  4. Wash out the next day, dry and style as usual. Repeat three times a week.

What is postpartum hair loss?

Nearly half of new mothers experience hair loss after giving birth.

Four to five months after giving birth, hair begins to fall out at an alarming rate, which can be very disturbing.

Hair grows in cycles (growth phase, resting phase, shedding phase, repeat). But during pregnancy, most hair stays in the growth phase because of those big changes in your body’s hormones.

But after your hormones start changing (again) after the baby arrives, estrogen levels drop, causing your beautiful, thick head of pregnancy hair to start shedding.

Because you are losing so much hair at once, the extent of the hair loss appears much greater.

You don’t need to treat your postpartum hair loss, but you may experience unexpected layers of hair as it grows back.
