I had dandruff so stopped washing my hair – it hasn’t been shampooed in A YEAR
A YOUNG woman has revealed she hasn’t washed her hair in more than a year, claiming it looks and feels “better than ever”.
Georgia Peck ditched all hair care products after worrying about the effects non-natural products were having on her locks and experiencing itching and dandruff.
The 23-year-old doesn’t use shampoo, conditioner or any other product on her hair – and says people have called her “crazy” for the “extreme” measure.
But despite the backlash – both from family members and online, after one of her TikToks went viral with 890,000 views – she says the results are definitely worth it.
“My hair is better than ever,” said Georgia, a holistic health coach and videographer from Shropshire What’s the jam.
“I can no longer deal with the problems I had before and my hair is stronger and more vibrant.
“The first few weeks were difficult because my hair looked and felt very greasy.
“It made me feel a little self-conscious and I had a huge urge to wash it off with shampoo.
“But I kept at it and my hair became less greasy week after week and my itching and dandruff disappeared.
“My friends and family thought I was a bit crazy!
“My whole family doesn’t like the natural way of life, so as I’ve spent years learning and training as a naturopath, they often think I’m extreme.”
Georgia now doesn’t use shampoo, conditioner or hair care products – even though they are organic and biodegradable – and believes they are ‘full of chemicals’ and not good for us.
She added: “I stopped using regular products about five years ago because I wanted to adopt a more natural lifestyle.
“I switched to more organic and natural shampoos and hair products, but I realized they were still not healthy for the scalp or body, so I took it a step further a year ago.
“These products can disrupt our natural scalp ecosystem and our health.
“If we continually remove the natural oils, it actually causes our scalp to produce more oils to compensate – leading to us having to remove them again.”
Georgia initially went cold turkey and used only water to wash her hair with a filter on the shower head.
