I had terrible acne until I started my daily concoction – it has made my skin 70% better
A woman who suffers from hormonal acne has admitted that she gets emotional when she looks at her now smooth face.
She said that drinking a specific herbal tea regularly improved the condition of her skin by at least 70%.
The 29-year-old woman shared her secret to getting rid of “deep, horrible, painful” acne in a post on Reddit’s Skincare Addiction forum.
HERBAL HYDRATION
She decided to look for ways to treat hormonal acne internally after Benzagel Lotion failed to control the pimples on her jawline, neck and cheeks.
“A month ago I started drinking spearmint tea, 1-2 times a day, I make it really strong,” she said, writing under the name MiraZiggy.
“Most days I only drink one cup.
“I had read that spearmint tea has an anti-androgenic effect, so I thought it might be worth a try since nothing else I had tried worked.
“Oh my God, in the last few days my skin has literally gotten at least 70% better. I could cry I am so relieved.”
She said her hormonal acne got worse after she lost a lot of weight last year.
Her underweight also caused her to miss her periods.

“My acne caused me so much discomfort and had such an emotional impact on me that I felt very ashamed of it,” she said.
“I just wanted to post this in the hopes that it can give hope to someone else. I hope that anyone who suffers from acne finds something that works for them to help them.
“I also started taking neem supplements this week. I am curious to see if this will improve my skin further.”
ACNE ANTIDOTE
Spearmint tea is available at grocery stores, including Walmart.
However, the Redditor noted that she purchases Handpicks Caffeine-Free Spearmint Tea from Amazon for $14.99.
She described the tea as having a “minty and earthy” flavor.
“I let it steep for about 20-30 minutes, but it still doesn’t have a very strong flavor to me. So it’s not overwhelmingly minty or anything like that,” she said.
According to HealthlineSpearmint has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
The plant has been proven to reduce knee pain and promote sleep, but there is little research to support the claim that it can also treat acne.
REAL RESULTS
Still, many Redditors were grateful for the advice to drink spearmint tea, and some indicated that they had already tried the brew.
“This is a well-known secret for people with PCOS [polycystic ovary syndrome]!!” someone said.
What causes hormonal acne?
According to Medical news todayHormonal acne is often caused by an increase in androgen levels.
There is no evidence to support the claim that chocolate, poor hygiene and sex are the cause.
Symptoms include blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, and nodules.
“It fights acne, but is mainly used to reduce dark facial hair caused by hormonal imbalances.
“It really works!”
Another commenter said they saw improvement in their skin within two weeks after drinking spearmint tea with ashwagandha.
“I have been drinking spearmint tea consistently for 3 months,” said a third.
“I have PCOS hormonal acne. I stopped taking it when I was away for a long weekend and it started happening. I don’t think it was a coincidence.”
