I had to pick out my mother’s dress for my second wedding after she dressed for my first
A BRIDE was left stunned after the disaster that was her mother’s dress at her first wedding. But this time it would be different.
She no longer wanted her mother’s choice of clothing to be the cause of her wedding problems.
MOTHER OF THE BRIDE GONE BAD
Reddit user Cheshirekim0626 shared how her mother’s style left everyone speechless on her big day.
“My mom wore a white strapless mini dress to my first wedding. And when I say mini dress, I mean mini,” she said.
“I was quite thin and in good shape at the time and I wouldn’t even have been brave enough to wear that clubwear, let alone to a wedding,” she continued.
And she still didn’t stop making fun of herself.
“She flirted with my dad throughout the wedding – they were still divorced at the time – and ended up on the dance floor swearing at him, her dress falling up and down,” she said.
She explained that either her breasts or her buttocks were uncovered at any given time, as they couldn’t both be “completely covered” at the same time.
Let me fool you…
She was still recovering from the incident, but this wasn’t her first rodeo.
She had learned her lesson: her mother’s dress would be approved before she walked down the aisle again.
“Needless to say, I picked out her outfit for my second wedding and she looked absolutely stunning,” she said.
Others also shared their worst wedding dress mishaps they had ever experienced.
“For an afternoon garden wedding, the mother of the bride wore a low-cut white taffeta ball gown — so full it peaked just above the hoop skirt — with white summer fur,” one Redditor wrote.
“The kind with the head and legs still on, and lots of pearls and diamonds, also in her hair – and a couple of white camellias behind one ear,” she continued.
“Meanwhile, her daughter was wearing cream palazzo pants with a matching camisole. It was all rather confusing. I can’t believe I forgot the white opera gloves.”
“My friend’s mother-in-law wore a near-copy of her wedding dress. She thought people were looking at her because she was prettier,” shared another reader.
There were even more shocking stories of wedding dress atrocities.
“One of the moms wore what looked like a wedding dress, but without the train: a lace halter dress in a mermaid color, bright yellow, like Big Bird yellow,” one user wrote.
“Nothing inappropriate or anything, just vulgar,” they continued.
“I went to a wedding where the mother of the groom wore a sparkly white dress. She told everyone it was ‘champagne.’ Nope. There was nothing champagne about it. It was white,” another noted.
One reader still couldn’t understand the bride’s story.
“I got whiplash from having to repeat it so many times when I read it,” they said.
