In her viral videoTikTok user Leigh (@financieelfreeleigh) shared the impressive savings she has made since purchasing the product.

The frugal woman revealed she focused on the heat lost through her windows to save money.

According to the experts at DakeaWindows are responsible for an average of 10-15% of the total heat loss in a home.

Although air leakage is common and causes drafts along your window frames, it is not the only cause of heat loss.

Radiation through glazing can cause one pane of glass to absorb internal heat, which then passes through the glass.

When it reaches the cooler outer window, the air is also cooled and heat is lost.

Leigh explained that she had applied a film to her windows to prevent this.

You can buy a £5.99 Skyte Four-Pack Window Insulation Kit from Amazon.

“When I realize that I spend 15 minutes putting on window insulation, my apartment actually becomes much warmer,” she captioned a clip of her dramatically touching the window pane.

She told her followers that the insulation took away all the drafts in her flat.

‘Brilliant stuff and surprisingly hard-wearing’ people rave about £7.50 but that keeps the heat and saves you money

Leigh was also able to directly compare energy costs in a comparable apartment without insulation film.

“My girlfriend lived in the same apartment building as me last year, and her electric bill was DOUBLE mine before I insulated her windows,” she revealed.

Amazon shoppers also shared their experiences with the insulation kit in the review section of the site.

“Stops all draughts! The condensation has now disappeared. I made one window a day later to compare, but there is still a lot of moisture on it,” wrote a buyer.

“Had to write a review, I’m so impressed, all the best [money I’ve spent in years!!!”

5 ways to keep your house warm in winter

Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.

1. Curtains

“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.

This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.

2. Rugs

“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.

“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”

3. Check your insulation

Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.

“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.

4. Keep your internal doors closed

“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.

“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”

5. Block drafts

Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.

The reviewer added that the film was also easy to cut, making it ideal to customise to your windows.

“These are easy to install good durability, good fit, no smell, and great value for money. Recommend this item,” said another person.

“As for the product, I found it easy to set up. It took about half an hour to cover six window panels,” shared a third Amazon user.

“I don’t know how effective the insulation is yet, but theoretically it’d make sense to do the job.”

Manufacturers recommend using a hair dryer to seal the film to your windows.
