I hated the red tiles in my new house so transformed with an £8 B&M purchase
She moved to her dream house with her sons.
But Lucy still has some work to do to bring the property up to her standards, starting with getting rid of the “terrible red tiles” in the kitchen.
She explained in a video on her TikTok page that she used cream-colored tile paint from B&M for the project.
“They were like this before,” she said, showing the red tiles.
“They’re not bad, the color red is nice, but just not for my kitchen. It’s not the atmosphere I’m going for.”
As an added bonus, you don’t have to use a primer before applying the paint.
You’ll need to give the surface a good cleaning, though, with Lucy revealing that she also gently sanded it to ensure it takes the paint well.
“I don’t have a method for doing this. I literally hit it with a brush in between where all the grout is and then just go over it with a roller,” she said.
“I think this tub of paint only cost me £8 from B&M, but I’m trying to renovate my house on a budget.
“I live here alone with my boys and I just want to make it as homely and cozy as possible!”
When she started painting, Lucy admitted she hadn’t realized how well the paint would immediately cover the red.
“I thought the first layer would be really see-through,” she said.
“But it’s not, it’s covered them really well.
“So this is the first layer and I love it.
“What I love about this tile paint is that it shines, it still looks like real tile.”
And people in the comments section were quick to share their thoughts, with one writing: “I hate tile paint but stick with me – this looks great!
“100% improvement and as you say it looks like tiles. You’ve converted me!”
“That’s amazing! I normally hate tile paint because you can tell it’s paint, but that looks so good,” another added.
