I have been using Samsung TVs for years, and the latest version of the TIZEN Smart TV platform is the best it has ever been – but it is still not perfect

Whether it is during my time that TVs test on TechRadar or back in my AV -Retail Days, an aspect of TVs that I like to explore thoroughly, is the Smart TV platform, also known as it Operating system (Os).
The Best TVs Not only deliver a great photo and sound quality (although great TV sound is a bit rarer), but they also make the viewing experience flexible, responsive and user-friendly.
In recent years, LGThe Smart TV platform from Webos has delivered the best user experience. For comparison: other Smart TV platforms such as Google TV, Rokuand Fire TV is all short, and the same applies to SamsungThe own Tizen Smart TV platform – so far.
In our recent reviews of the Samsung S95F And 65-inch Samsung S90F OLED TVs, and the Samsung QN90F Mini-guided TV, the Tizen Smart TV platform scored four and a half out of five stars in the Smart TV category. Previously, the maximum I would give Tizen was four stars.
What has changed in the latest version that makes it so much better?
The best functions
One of the best functions in the Tizen interface of Samsung is the Gaminghub. A portal dedicated to all things gaming, the gaminghub has a wide range of cloud -based apps such as Xbox, Nvidia GeForce Now and Luna. It also has access to recommended Twitch streams and can detect your console when it is connected, and works as a launch page. Gaming Hub is one of the main reasons why Samsung TVs always in our list of the Best gaming -tvs.
A more recent Tizen addiction that corpses To be inspired by LG’s Webos is the fast menu. Earlier, access to the settings on Samsung TVS was a long-winded process, but with the new fast menu overlay, access to photo and sound modes and the brightness setting is incredibly easy. Tizen 9.0 (the 2025 version) also remembers your most recent and often applied settings and places them at the top of the fast menu – handy if you regularly change one setting (I thought I often changed dynamic tone mapping into the filmmaker mode).
The Tizen -Homescreen is split into three sections: for you, live and apps. For you now host more on AI -based recommendations based on your viewing history, and I found it largely accurate. Samsung has also introduced profiles, where individual recommendations can be made for each user – a different function in the webo’s platform of LG that was first introduced in 2024.
Samsung TVs have a mode (art on LED, QLED and mini-guided sets, called environment sets on OLED sets) where photos can be displayed instead of showing an empty screen in standby mode. There is also a new option based on a subscription with which you can ‘stream’ paintings by famous museums, a function that was rather limited to Samsung de Frame TVs.
Finally, Tizen offers access to not just the Best streaming services But also thousands of hours of free TV programs and films via his Samsung TV Plus Hub, which is comparable to the LG channels on LG TVs.
Looking for Settings
Tizen 9.0 is perhaps the best version of the Samsung Smart TV platform that I have used so far, but it is still not perfect. A common criticism in the recent Samsung TV reviews of TechRadar includes the difficulty in gaining access to certain institutions.
Although the aforementioned fast menu is a welcome function, some settings are buried under a low menus, making it difficult to find. Something as simple as sound reduction is found, for example, by going to settings> All Settings> Images Settings> Settings for Sculpture> Ruis reduction, and this process includes scroll down by multiple menus.
This deep nesting of institutions makes life difficult for those who like to experiment with their TVs. And although Samsung offers a wide range of image settings for viewers to adjust the photo, Samsung could have made it more accessible.
Last thoughts
Tizen may not be a perfect smart TV platform, but for years it went behind the webos of LG. Although Webos is still my best choice for a Smart TV platform, it is great to see how much Tizen has improved in this latest version.
For Samsung -TV owners with an older version of Tizen, Fear NOT: Samsung’s dedication to seven years of software -updates for older models gives your old TV extended life. And after testing this latest version, I can say that Tizen 9.0 is the best so far.
