I just couldn’t pay that much for a $22 Glossier brow gel – my $5 knockoff is the same
A bargain hunter shared her thoughts about the cheap alternative she found to a more expensive beauty product.
She admitted she didn’t want to spend the money on a $22 Glossier brow gel, but a knockoff product that cost a quarter of the price gave the same results.
Reddit user Corriecorgi shared her favorite alternative to a Glossier product.
She revealed in a after that she “couldn’t justify paying that much” for Glossier Boy Brow Gel-Pomade, $22, which is available at Sephora or Ulta.
According to the product description, it is a “volumizing gel pomade that quickly and visibly thickens, conditions and shapes eyebrows.”
Beeswax and carnauba wax combat stiffness, oleic acid hydrates and collagen “conditions the hair fibers”.
According to the makeup enthusiast, the product only lasts for a maximum of ten weeks, but the product page describes the product as ‘long-wearing’.
The Redditor went looking for another affordable option.
Her sister recommended the Elf Wow Brow Gel, $5 on Amazon.
“It’s almost the same, really,” she thundered.

According to the description, the “fiber-infused brow gel” also gives the wearer “voluminous brows.”
This one comes in four shades, while the Glossier comes in seven shades, including two sheer ones.
She added that she wasn’t sure since she only used the sheer Glossier Boy Brow.
Since then, she’s incorporated it into her new eyebrow care routine.
“I use a neutral brown in Wow Brow and I don’t use the pencil I used to use,” she explains.
She said she’s normally “very picky about eyebrow products.”
She prefers the pomade or “mousse” texture of the Glossier product, but says the Elf product is the only one she’s tried “that comes close.”
Another Redditor raved about the beauty deal’s benefits.
“I was skeptical about the Elf because I had previously tried the Essence which people said was a knock-off,” she said.
She said it was “too wet” and “not nearly as good,” so they bought the Elf option.
The beauty fan decided to do an experiment where she applied the Glossier Boy Brow to one eyebrow and the Elf Wow Brow to the other eyebrow.
“Later that day I couldn’t remember which one it was,” she said.
Their only observation was that the neutral brown shade Elf is slightly darker or cooler in tone than Glossier’s brown shade.
“But there really isn’t much difference. The texture and finish were the same – soft and waxy, so I’m happy to use the Elf from now on,” she concluded.
