I keep my 50-year-old soles and toes soft with a homemade ‘foot smoothie’
A 50-YEAR-OLD fan of hacks shares her homemade remedy for fresh, soft feet.
She demonstrated her homemade ‘foot smoothie’, a natural nail care method using just a few ingredients.
Clare Hooper (@clarehooper) is looking fabulous at 50 thanks to her natural skin care tricks.
She showed herself in a Instagram Reel how she used three ingredients you can find around the house to care for her toes.
“POV: You’ve found a new way to keep your 50-year-old feet fresh and soft all summer long,” the text on the screen reads.
Thanks to her handy trick, you no longer have to go to a nail salon for soft and smooth soles.
Clare invited viewers into her living room and poured a blue liquid into a bucket of steaming hot water.
“Your eyes don’t deceive you. White vinegar and cheap mouthwash will always and forever be my favorite foot smoothie,” she explained in the caption.
After a hard day of gardening, she admitted that her feet are often “dirty and drier than the Sahara desert.”
Previously she tried several other methods to maintain them, but she didn’t want to spend too much money on it.

“I tried everything,” she said.
But the DIY queen said she likes to keep it “cheap and cheerful,” and that’s exactly what this process entails.
STEP-BY-STEP
First, she said she likes to “measure with her heart” how much water she uses.
“It’s about 2 liters of warm water,” she explained.
But Clare said you can put your toes in “any temperature that you’re comfortable with” or that you’re comfortable with.
Then add a generous splash of white vinegar to the mixture.
Finally, add half a bottle of mouthwash to complete the mixture.
Think of it as a day at the spa.
Don’t forget to moisturize them afterwards so that they get a smooth texture.
REAL REACTIONS
Clare said to soak your toes in the water for as long as you like, but other Instagram users weren’t convinced.
“Oh yes, I swear by it, once a year just before summer. It has even improved my husband’s chapped feet,” one woman noted.
She also gave useful advice.
“One tip: Use a neutral-colored mouthwash. I left it in my feet too long once and it turned green,” she said.
She wasn’t the only one who experienced something like this.
Another Instagram user said the mouthwash mixture turned their feet into “Smurf feet.”
The comments also saw a massive response from enthusiastic viewers who had already tried it.
“This is a highly valued method for helping athletes with athlete’s foot as well,” someone advised.
“I saw this on Pinterest 10 years ago, tried it, and swore by it for a while. Thanks for reminding me!” wrote one.
