The brunette, who was 29 weeks pregnant at the time, shared her fail on social media, posting a screenshot of what she ordered, compared to what the outfit looked like when she put it on.

In the short clip shared online, the content creator wrote: “Why you shouldn’t order products from Shein when you’re pregnant.”

Al mentioned that she ordered a stylish gray ribbed two-piece set from Shein.

She hoped the matching set, consisting of a V-neck top and matching pants, would be perfect for relaxing during her pregnancy.

But alongside the video, Al added the viral caption: ‘I’m literally crying over my nails right now, they’re so ugly… this is what I wanted, okay? These are the pastels, and this is what I got.’

When the set arrived, Al was embarrassed when she put it on.

She then showed off her Shein ‘failure’, which caused hilarity among many.

She explained that she had ordered a size larger than she normally wears, but it was still way too small.

Not only was the suit incredibly tight, but the pants also had more of an ankle strap than a loose fit.

Moreover, she did not wear an oversized top, but a crop top, which made her baby bump fully visible.

What is Shein and is it legit?

Shein is a fast fashion retailer that operates exclusively online and is based in China. It has become a popular shopping destination for many around the world.

In 2023, the company was valued at $66 billion, dwarfing popular brands Zara and H&M.

The fashion chain was founded in late 2008 by entrepreneur and marketing specialist Xu Yangtian, also known as Chris Xu.

Shein is a legitimate sales website and not a phishing scam.

However, according to reviews, you may receive a disappointing order or experience shipping issues if you order through the site.

There are many complaints about the quality, which makes sense when you look at the price tag.

“I’m so ashamed.

“I think I’ve just given up and will dress as Adam Sandler for the rest of my pregnancy.”

SOCIAL MEDIA USERS RESPOND

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @algaehas clearly caused quite a stir, as it quickly went viral and has now been viewed 2.5 million times.

Social media users responded en masse to the comments, with many claiming the same thing had happened to them.

How does Shein work and are there other brands on their website?

Shein is known for its cheap clothing. The brand sells its own products and also acts as a marketplace for third-party sellers.

They do not sell designer brands and have been accused of counterfeiting and copyright infringement in the past.

Brands such as Ralph Lauren and Oakley have previously sued the fashion giant for violating their intellectual property rights.

Someone said, “It happened to me too.”

Another added: “I almost ordered the same set but with long sleeves and the same thing! SO tight.”

A third commented: “I think it’s because you’re tall.”

Al then replied: “Overall, the number of people is larger than Shein’s intended target audience.”

While someone else wrote: “I never bought maternity clothes, I also bought regular clothes, but two to three sizes bigger. I just like them better. You can wear them after giving birth too.”

Ali replied, “That’s exactly what I was trying to do.”

You should have ordered from the maternity department

At the same time, many advised Ali to order the products directly from Shein’s maternity department.

One mom suggested, “Order these items from their maternity section instead of the regular section! I just bought a bunch of them and they fit great!!”

To which Al wrote back and shared, “Noted!! I think I’m too tall for their website. Very sad.”

A second chimed in: “You should have ordered from the maternity section. I bought all my maternity clothes from Shein.”

Another parent explained: “Oh my god, I ordered all my maternity clothes from Shein and it was perfect.”

Al later wrote and confirmed, “I really missed not shopping from their maternity section.”
