In her viral videoTikTok user Paige Mills (@bikerbiddie) showed the house she built for less than £8,000.

The Australian poster showed the space being made from a 40-foot shipping container.

Paige explained that after purchasing the container, she spent a total of £15,000 on the conversion.

“[I] I picked up some stuff cheaply [Facebook] marketplace but [I] “And I also spent some money on other things,” she said.

She was also able to provide the apartment with plumbing and build a fully functioning bathroom and kitchen.

Paige pointed out that her bathroom was the same size as her mother’s in her house.

She added large glass patio doors, which bring plenty of natural light into the unit.

Paige also cut a large round window at the end of the container, where she placed her bed.

She described the round window as one of her “biggest financial splurges.”

The TikToker created an outdoor space by building a small patio from recycled materials

Paige also built her own bed frame, which created extra storage space in the small space.

She explained that she rents the land on which she placed the shipping container.

The fitness fanatic also runs a gym in a container on an industrial estate.

She said she eventually wants to convert the tiny house into a new home and designed it so it can be easily transported by truck.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on their home transformation in the comments.

Rules for moving to a sea container

UK-based company Gap Containers shared the rules you need to follow when converting a shipping container. You must:

  • Apply for a building permit before you start.
  • In certain regions, permanent structures may need to be integrated into the environment.
  • Consider whether your construction will harm the privacy of your neighbors.
  • If the container takes up more than half of the land surrounding your property, is higher than the nearest property, or is connected to permanent utilities, local government permission will likely be required.

“Oh wow!! That’s amazing. A much less fancy version of this would be my absolute dream,” wrote one impressed viewer.

“I really want to do this someday. I don’t want a mortgage for a house and land, just land to build my own thing on,” said another follower.

“The idea that the TV can be turned both ways is brilliant,” said one.

“You are truly amazing girl. Well done. Looks phenomenal,” wrote another TikTok user.

“Awesome, I would 100% buy one if I could,” said one viewer.
