A WOMAN has told how she lives in a mobile home and can’t stand the summer school holidays.

Katie, who is from the UK and known online as ‘The Caravan Mum’, said she normally enjoys living a nomadic lifestyle but finds it quite ‘frustrating’ when the kids are off school and families visit the caravan park.

The mother, who lives in West Wales, explained that not only is the water pressure in her shower decreasing, but her phone signal is also dropping as more people are on the site.

Katie has been candid about her lifestyle and shared her frustrations on social media, leaving many surprised.

Katie shared her video with the caption, “I love the mobile home 99% of the time but THIS is driving me crazy. Last summer I saved my showers for when I went to the gym.”

She then said: “There is one thing that drives me absolutely crazy about living in a mobile home during the summer holidays: of course the campsite is quite busy, there are a lot of children who have school holidays.

“That means if you’re going to take a shower at a popular shower time, so somewhere between 8:00 and 10:00, or maybe even a little earlier, 7:30, that means you’re basically going to have a trickle of water.”

Katie claimed that this may not be the case for all caravan parks, but that it drives her ‘absolutely crazy’ when it happens at her caravan park.

She also explained, “It happens when you’re doing the dishes. When you’re doing the dishes, everything just comes out a little less potent and it’s very frustrating.”

What’s more, the savvy mum said the signal on her phone is ‘absolutely awful’ and it takes ‘ages’ to load anything when people visit the caravan site in the summer.

She continued: “If you’re going to live this lifestyle, you also have to pay attention to the internet. So if you’re using a personal hotspot on your phone, make sure you have a provider that has really good coverage in the area.

“We’ve got Tesco, and sometimes when it’s not that popular it’s quite good, but when it gets popular here it’s absolutely terrible. It takes ages before I can do anything again.”

From new construction to nomadic: a family’s caravan adventure.

Katie claims she therefore has to leave her phone outside her caravan, on the patio, so she has reception to upload videos to social media.

That’s why the content creator revealed that she “absolutely hates” it when her caravan park gets busy during the summer months.

Why Caravan Holidays Are So Underrated

CARAVAN park holidays are a quintessentially British phenomenon.

And with the cost of living crisis having a major impact on British wallets, more and more people are turning to the UK economy for an affordable holiday.

Josie O’Brien, Senior Digital Writer at Fabulous, explains why she believes caravan holidays are seriously underrated…

WHEN I was little, my mother used to collect the £9.50 holiday vouchers from The Sun.

She used them to book a few nights at a caravan park during the school holidays.

As an adult I know how easy a simple caravan holiday is.

No hassle with passports, no baggage limits and no average hotel breakfast with old bread and grey eggs.

As an adult, I still love caravan holidays.

In a world where we do everything for Instagram, a caravan park takes you back to basics.

There is no obligation to dress up, no stress about taking a million scenic excursions in one week and I don’t get upset in tourist attractions as easily as I do abroad.

I like to go to caravan parks on the coast and enjoy walking along the beach promenade.

What I like most are the fresh mussels, the ice cream and the classic pubs where you can have a drink in the afternoon.

And then of course there are the costs.

Staying in a caravan is definitely a lot cheaper than my international travels.

Because I don’t have expensive hotel bills and I can cook for myself, I spend hundreds of euros less than I would abroad.

I have had some of my best and most relaxing holidays in caravans, I may buy one of my own someday.

A third commented: “I’ve always wondered why the shower pressure is so low on caravan holidays. I had no idea that was a reason.”

At the same time, someone else claimed, “I bet the noise level goes up too.”

Katie responded, confirming, “Surprisingly, our location is extremely quiet after 9-10pm.

“We’re a fairly small site without big, flashy, hugely embarrassing entertainment.”
