I live in a van and have 12 items of clothing… I don’t feel like doing laundry
A WOMAN left social media users in awe after revealing her wardrobe consists of just 12 items of clothing.
While the rest of the Western world seems to be preoccupied with over-consumption, Paisley Davis from South Dakota, USA, is doing the exact opposite: she orders new items from ASOS and PrettyLittleThing.
Instead of updating her wardrobe once a month, like 45% of the British population does sothe nomad keeps switching between the same 12 items in her closet.
The singleton, who has also traded in her traditional lifestyle for life in a van, recently took to TikTok to show off some of the clothes she wears regularly.
The former chakra and crystal energy healer, who describes herself as a proud “hippie,” explained that the lack of clothing has a fairly simple explanation.
“I can’t imagine having to wash that much clothes!” she laughed in the caption a more recent video.
The former hot yoga instructor wears, among other things, a comfortable striped hoodie that she pairs with short shorts, and a flowy tie-dye cardigan in bright colors with a tree print down the center.
On cooler days, she wears the same colorful top with a thin white shirt and funky khaki-inspired bottoms, sometimes replacing them with similar pants in navy.
The skinny dipping instructor joked about her appearance, saying it looked like she had no roof over her head.
”I usually call my look the homeless look… I’m amazed that people actually like what I wear.”
While some people struggle with having a limited number of clothes in their wardrobe, Paisley said it suited her bus lifestyle perfectly.
“Minimalism is essential when you’re on the road,” she explains, stressing that it’s not impossible.
“If I can do this, anyone can!”
Shocked by her minimalist approach, dozens of people responded en masse with admiration.
One person laughed: “I probably have over 3,000 pieces of clothing, and I probably stick to the same 12 things.”
Another struggled to comprehend the limited wardrobe, writing: “I couldn’t even imagine it. I wear 12 different items of clothing just for one day.”
A third added: “Great sense of style, I love a Boho capsule wardrobe.”
Is it legal to live in a van?
IF you want to live in a van to save money or to travel, you’ll be pleased to hear that there are no laws in the UK that stop you.
However, you do need to ensure that your vehicle has passed its MOT and is fully road legal.
There may also be restrictions on where you can park your van to sleep.
For example, local authorities impose restrictions on certain streets or parking lots and you may be fined if you spend the night there.
It can also be dangerous to stop in certain places, especially at night.

“I live in a house with 12 clothes and 1 pair of shoes. I don’t like doing laundry,” another social media user found the clip relatable.
“Oh damn, this is really what I hope to be like someday!” One viewer was inspired by her hippie life.
“It’s all about simplicity!” agreed another.
Paisley opens up about her experiences living in a van full-time, saying it’s the best way “to travel the world and make loads of new friends.”
”I don’t think I found my authentic self until I was living in a van full-time, humble and free.
“I can’t imagine giving up the freedom I have if I were to live this lifestyle.”
