I lost 18 pounds in 8 months – thanks to 4 rules I followed, one of which is free
LONG, grueling hours in the gym, and a boring salad with no dressing: these are two things most people associate with losing weight.
But according to one woman, you can lose weight the healthy way without an expensive gym membership – and she’s living proof.
Before TikTok user Kerry made drastic changes to her lifestyle, she hated her appearance, describing her figure as a bus and suffering from low energy levels.
At one point, the stunning red-haired beauty (@ketometkerry) weighed no less than 20 kilos, or almost 130 kilos.
Not only was the mother unhappy with her reflection in the mirror, she also felt “miserable” and her hormones were “out of whack.” She realized she had to act quickly.
Eight months later, Kerry looks better than ever. In less than a year, she has lost a whopping 100 pounds, all thanks to small but effective daily changes in her life.
Daily walks
According to the slim mom, walking is one of the most important ingredients for success and a healthier lifestyle. Although it may not seem like much, this low-intensity cardio workout is a fantastic tool for shedding pounds.
The best part? Not only is it completely free—and good for your mental health—but you don’t have to spend hours traipsing around your neighborhood.
“Walk 20 minutes every day. Find something you love, go there every day and see it,” Kerry said in a recent video on her page.
Intermittent fasting
You’ve probably come across this term before. If not, here’s what it means.
Simply put, intermittent fasting is an eating plan where people alternate between fasting and eating regularly. They usually adhere to the 16:8 eating window (16 hours without eating and 8 hours with eating).
Many celebrities and influencers swear by this method. Hugh Jackman, for example, is said to have tried it to gain muscle for X-Men movies.
Research suggests that intermittent fasting, which Jennifer Aniston also loved, can aid in weight loss and managing conditions such as cholesterol.
While this method isn’t for everyone, Kerry raved about it, saying, “It gives your body a break.”
”It helps you rejuvenate and regenerate, and it also gives you the ability to keep an eye on what you eat.
Keto diet
Speaking of diet, the mom cited the keto diet as one of the key factors behind her phenomenal weight loss.
The keto diet became hugely popular in the 1990s. It involves eating lots of “good” fats to satisfy your hunger, while cutting out carbs and consuming moderate amounts of protein.
Is the keto diet safe?
The keto diet, beloved by Hollywood stars and fitness enthusiasts, can work wonders for people with a variety of health conditions and can also help you lose weight.
However, according to the Mayo Clinic, there isn’t much evidence that this diet is safe to eat long-term, except for people with epilepsy.
Experts warn that restricting carbs can have unpleasant side effects, such as headaches, bad breath and flu-like symptoms, as people adjust to ketosis.
Also keep in mind that if you cut out a food group almost entirely, you’re likely to also become deficient in nutrients found in fruits, vegetables, and grains, such as magnesium and vitamin C.
Research shows that it not only increases energy levels but also helps accelerate weight loss.
Kerry told her followers on the platform: “It helps you become fat-adaptive, where you burn fat for fuel instead of glucose.”
Some of the meals the health fanatic has shared online include a delicious-looking shrimp salad, strawberries with Greek yogurt and chia seeds, mouth-watering egg wraps, and protein pancakes.
Believe in yourself
And last but not least, Kerry emphasizes, was believing in yourself.
“You can do it. Nothing can stop you but yourself.
“Start today, forget yesterday – you can do it.”
