I love my House Bargain Tree – people say it’s ‘perfect’ or that it ruined Christmas
Spreading festive cheer six weeks before Christmas didn’t go exactly as planned for one woman.
Simone Dawson was happy to share a photo of her tree, but trolls were unimpressed by the movie-inspired decorations.
Simone posted the photo on Facebook Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK groupwhich has more than 2.5 million members.
It showed her artificial snow-covered Christmas tree placed on a rug with The Grinch’s eyes, while the character also inspired the baubles and other trinkets.
“All house bargains [heart face emoji],” she captioned the post.
Hundreds of people quickly liked the photo and wanted to recreate it in their own homes.
One said: ‘Looks lovely’, while another described that Home Bargains has a ‘great range’ of decorations this year.
“Omg this is amazing,” said one.
“I found the perfect tree,” another commented.
“I want to make my tree like this,” wrote a third.
“Too bad I can’t find the pull-out Grinch’s anywhere,” chimed in another.
Many commenters tagged friends as they shared how impressed they were.
However, amid the flood of positive comments, trolls also complained about Simone’s choice of decorations.
Other comments on the post left mocking laughing emojis.
“Whatever happened to the beautiful traditional English Christmas tree… everything is so Americanized now… soon you’ll all be saying HAPPY HOLIDAYS,” said one critic.
Simone did not hit back at the trolls or respond to comments asking how much she spent on her Christmas decorations.
However, many of the items she used have proven popular with Home Bargains shoppers.
The Extendable Grinch decoration which placed them on either side of the tree cost £14.99 before selling out online.
Is it too early for Christmas?
Some say it’s never too early for Christmas, and there are many reasons for that.
For example, decorating your home can improve your mood by releasing dopamine, the feel-good hormone in your brain.
If you’re an early riser, Christmas supply stores can help you prepare and reduce costs over several months.
You can also look for bargains during various shopping events, for example during the end of year sales or Black Friday.
One of the best things about the holidays is eating lots of delicious seasonal meals and treats – enjoying your favorite drinks and beverages.
The Grinch Legs tree ornaments which cost €2.99 each are also not available.
The Grinch tree skirt is still on sale and costs £7.99, while it’s a pack of 4 The Grinch Giant Christmas Baubles costs €4.99 each.
Home bargains’ Festive feeling Christmas tree 6ft Snowy €34.99.
The debate over Simone’s choice of decorations comes after Joanne Rayworth also went viral with her tree on Facebook.
She chose metallic blue, pink and silver artificial leaves and trinkets.
However, trolls described the decorations as ‘tacky and cheap’.
Joanne hit back, saying people are “entitled to their opinions” but admitted she was upset by their comments.
“One person said it was the worst tree she had ever seen. Real? That was just hateful and hurtful,” she said.
