A homeowner has shared a trick for inflating his kiddie pool without the need for an air pump.
They explained that they could make a tool themselves using a common household appliance.
Reddit user Last2ndParty shared the handy home trick in a post.
“We needed an air pump to blow up the kiddie pool,” they said.
The problem, however, was that they didn’t have an air pump on hand.
However, that didn’t stop them from taking a much-needed dip.
“This bad guy has been MacGyvered,” they said, showing off the “pump” they’d made from a hair dryer.
They said they cut a water bottle in half and taped it over the opening of the hair dryer to create a temporary air pump.
Some viewers were initially wary of the project.
“Won’t that get hot and eventually melt the plastic?” one asked.
“Or is there only a cool air setting?”
Some believed the strategy could work if the air was not too warm.
“Hair dryers have multiple settings, including a ‘cold’ setting that blows unheated air,” one viewer responded.
“I suspect the ‘low’ setting in this case is simply the cool setting.”
The Redditor revealed that they were both right: “Yes, it’s that little gray button,” they said.
“I didn’t realize it at first, and it did melt the bottle a little, but it still worked.”
Others praised them for being able to act so quickly.
“This is what you call Big Brain,” said one impressed viewer.
“How incredibly clever!” said another.
Others said the temporary solution could offer more benefits than an air pump.
“And kill mold at the same time! Awesome!” said one.
“It might even be quieter than the air pump you had before!” said another.
