I met my husband through Oasis, had a themed wedding and named my business after a band

An Oasis superfan who met her husband through their love of the band has spoken of her delight at the Gallagher brothers’ reunion.

Sian Downes from Hawick, Roxburghshire, has an Oasis-themed home and named her business Strawberry lemonade based on the lyrics of the hit Talk Tonight.

The 35-year-old says she’s overjoyed the famous siblings have ended their 15-year feud, as she can finally see them again with her Oasis-mad husband Mark, 39.

The couple are parents of Rhia (3) and Luna (6 weeks old). They have been married for seven years, after building a bond through the dating app Tinder through their love for the band.

Sian told the Scottish Sun: “Mark asked me if I preferred Liam or Noel after I declared my love for the band on my profile.

“I wrote him a whole essay in response. As far as I’m concerned, if he couldn’t accept my love for Oasis on Tinder, he wouldn’t in real life either.

“It was only then that he revealed he was in an acoustic Noel Gallagher cover band, so it was a match made in heaven.”

The couple, who decorated their home with themed merchandise, even threw an Oasis-themed wedding. The event’s stationery featured the band’s logo, and Sian managed to get her new husband an exclusive replica of Noel’s Riviera guitar.

The event planner’s love for the band also extends to her company Strawberry Lemonade, a social enterprise named after a lyric from the B-side of the 1995 song Talk Tonight.

Sian promises that “all your dreams come true” when she hosts charity events and awards ceremonies.

She confessed that she’s loved the ’90s rock legends since primary school and that while all her classmates were into the Steps and the Spice Girls, she was the ‘hardcore Liam and Noel’.

She said, ‘I got a compilation CD for Christmas that said, ‘You Know What I Mean?’

“After that I spent all my pocket money on buying Oasis cassettes. I begged my dad to buy the albums for me and when I got What’s the Story Morning Glory, my favourite album, I was sold.

“I was lucky enough to see them twice in Glasgow in 2005 – first at Hampden and later at the SECC.

“I remember the excitement of standing at the Mount Florida train station with other fans and then walking to the show. It was electric, I was so excited.”

Since the band split in 2009, Sian has seen the brothers’ bands separately ten times, but she says nothing can match the original line-up.

She continued: “I had made my peace with the fact that they would never get back together, so this announcement has shocked me to the core.

“I feel like this generation doesn’t have a band that delivers the same kind of intergenerational anthemic rock that Oasis does – there’s been nothing like them since. They took over the world without social media.

“I just hope they sound as good when they come back, it’s hard to recreate that magic from the first time. I’m hopeful and I’m ready for it, no matter how they sound, I know it’s going to be special.”

Liam, 51, and Noel Gallagher, 57, announced last weekend that they will be performing together again next summer as part of their Live ’25 Tour.

Tickets for the Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin shows go on sale Saturday morning. Pre-sale started on Tuesday and runs for 24 hours until 7pm on Wednesday.

According to insiders, additional concerts will be announced once this edition is sold out.

A total of 1,066,888 tickets will be available for the 14 concerts and demand is expected to be four times as high.

Sian said her priority now is to get the golden tickets for one of their shows in 2025.

She admits that she had sleepless nights thinking about packing the underwear.

“This puts me in a state of fear,” she said.

“I’m already waking up in a sweat because of the demand, after seeing what happened last year with Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, which sold out like crazy and lost out to huge fans.

“We’re trying to figure out how much we want to spend to make it happen. We’re prepared to travel, but honestly we want to see them here because there’s nothing like a Scottish audience.”

But lucky Sian later revealed she was able to skip the ticket queue after being offered the chance to get tickets through Murrayfield’s hospitality packages shortly after her chat with the Scottish Sun.

She added: “I can relax now knowing I’ll be there.”
