I Own a Beauty Salon – 5 Home Methods That Can Lighten Dark Circles Under Eyes
Dark circles under the eyes can be easily lightened at home with one of five methods, a beauty salon owner revealed.
Georgina East shared tips for rejuvenating under-eye skin, but warned that too much salt can hinder results.
East divides her time between London, England, Grafton Spa and Wellness Ltd and Harley Street’s skin transformation clinic SKNinfluence.
In an interview with The US Sun, she revealed the most effective methods to fade dark circles.
HOME HACKS
A good night’s sleep topped her list of five must-have tips to relieve under-eye bags.
She said that ideally, for a healthy complexion, you should stay home for seven to eight hours every night.
“Try to elevate your head when you sleep, and use an extra pillow to prevent fluid from accumulating under your eyes,” she said.
Another simple home remedy is to apply cold cotton pads to reduce swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels.
East said sun exposure should also be kept to a minimum to reduce dark circles.
She advises to always wear sunscreen or a sun hat to protect against the harsh UV rays.

Her fifth tip is to limit salt intake.
“Too much salt can cause fluid retention and swelling,” she said.
REDUCE THE DARKNESS
East said there are several reasons why the skin under the eyes may appear darker than the rest of the face.
These include lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption and stress.
“As you age, your skin becomes thinner and the blood vessels underneath become more visible, leading to dark circles,” she said.
Lack of sleep or sleeping too much can make your skin look dull and pale, causing dark circles.
Prolonged sun exposure or injury can contribute to the formation of dark circles under your eyes.

“Lack of sleep can also lead to fluid retention under the eyes, making them appear puffy.”
Allergic reactions can also lead to dark circles with itching, causing inflammation and broken blood vessels that result in pigmentation.
She said that dark circles become more visible when the body is not properly hydrated.
“Prolonged sun exposure or injury can contribute to the formation of dark circles under your eyes,” she added.
POWERFUL PRODUCTS
East said there are some “great” salon treatments and professional products that target dark circles.
Active ingredients like vitamin C and retinoids can work wonders in skin care.
As an alternative, she recommended a treatment that focuses on stimulating collagen production to tighten the skin and reduce puffiness.
SKNfluence is one of the clinics that offers NeoGen Plasma to reduce the signs of skin aging.
“By treating the entire skin architecture, NeoGen Plasma addresses multiple cosmetic concerns simultaneously,” East said.
“It increases elasticity, firms the skin and softens fine lines and wrinkles.
“Unlike fractional laser treatments that produce only one type of collagen, NeoGen treats all four types of collagen, promoting overall skin health.”
