“Christmas has always been a big celebration in my family.

“When I was growing up, my mother would put up our Christmas trees in October and we would have a big party.

“Christmas gives me a sense of joy that I’ve never experienced with anything else, and I can’t quite explain why I love it so much, other than the crazy amount of joy it brings me.

“So the moment the calendar turns to the ‘ber’ months is the moment I like to put them up.”

Experts have even revealed when exactly you should decorate for Christmas.

Christmas came early

Daniela Venturini, art director and trend forecaster at Wayfair UK, comments: “Tradition holds that the best time to decorate for Christmas is four Sundays before Christmas Day, but we’ve seen that now more than ever, people are choosing to decorate early .

“It’s proven that decorating early gives people a boost, so the earlier you decorate, the better.

However, it is not recommended to purchase a real tree more than four weeks before Christmas.

Daniela continues: “Early decorating can sometimes cause problems.

“One thing you should stay away from is over-decorating as this can overwhelm a home and make it look somewhat cluttered.

“If you want to get into the Christmas spirit right now, decorate minimally for now and build up as the festivities get closer.

“Also, if you’re more of a fan of a real Christmas tree than an artificial one, wait until the end of November to purchase one, as they usually only last about four weeks.

“The last thing you want is for your Christmas tree not to be at its best on the most beautiful day of the year!”
