I refuse to spend £140 on a Molly-Mae blazer, so found a dupe and saved £100
She hoped to set the fashion world on fire with her Maebe range.
But Molly-Mae Haag made headlines for all the wrong reasons when her first collection dropped this week, with many fans mocking the mum-of-one for its staggeringly high prices.
The Ultimate Blazer is one of the standout pieces from the range, but costs a whopping £140.
So it’s no wonder that fashion fans are looking elsewhere for dupes.
And Georgia Fox thinks she’s found a perfect example of the gray blazer in her local Asda.
She accepted TikTok to share a video watching her put on the jacket and giggling as she put it on over her white tracksuit.
But when Georgia looked in the mirror, she was open-mouthed in shock at how much it looked like the Molly-Mae dupe.
“POV: You won’t get the Molly-Mae blazer, find it in Asda,” she wrote at the top of the clip,
The video, in which Georgia also did her best, quickly attracted more than 300,000 likes.
And people were quick to comment on it too, including a message from George to Asda, who wrote: “There’s no Maebe on this, just put it in the basket!”
“This will 100% be me,” another added.
“£140?! lol!”
“£40 bargggg,” a third commented.
“There will be dupes everywhere soon haha,” someone else laughed.
But others weren’t impressed with the blazer: Molly-Mae’s OR the Asda dupe.
“Honestly it’s a school blazer,” one person wrote.
“Molly-Mae’s blazers look awful – it’s like she’s dressed in her dad’s clothes,” another added.
“Exactly, I don’t get it!” someone else agreed.
Reasons to buy supermarket fashion
When you’re looking for new pieces to add to your seasonal wardrobe or to update your basics, you don’t have to spend hours walking through clothing stores or scrolling online. Just buy a dress or two next to your fruits and vegetables…
They are useful – There is a good chance that you visit your supermarket more often than a shopping center or shopping street.
It’s affordable – From basic items to more fashion items, supermarkets are leading the way in budget fashion that doesn’t look cheap.
They are trendier than you think – With a customer base larger than that of the average high street, stores such as ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco can serve markets and predict trends in many more areas than just food supply.
They fit well – Fits and lengths often come with a little more modesty in mind. Fabrics are often also very practical: think of a lot of 100% cotton that can be thrown in the washing machine without a second thought.
As another wrote: “It looks like your grandpas!”
The Asda blazer isn’t the only dupe to have become hugely popular since Maebe’s launch.
Fans were also desperate to get their hands on the ‘contour popper top’, which came with a price tag of a whopping £50.
According to Maebe, who seeks to make elevated style an accessible luxury for a new generation, the off-white contour popper top is an ode to everyday, high-end leisure.
It is made from a buttery soft, heavy, knitted stretch jersey that shapes your body while providing support and a smoothing effect.
But thanks to Shein’s MUSERA Button-Front Asymmetrical Sleeveless Knit Top from Shein, you get the Molly-Mae look, but for less.
The button-up top is strikingly similar to Maebe’s offering, but is much more affordable at just £7.99.
