I ruined our bathroom with my DIY and now I’m afraid my husband will see it
She had decided to give her boring bathroom a makeover when she was in trouble at home during Storm Darragh.
But Sarah soon discovered that transforming the room was much harder than she thought – and now the room has been left in a total state.
In videos on her TikTok page, she explained: “I destroyed my bathroom, and now I don’t want to go home because I’m going to panic when my husband sees and realizes that I’m all in and that I’ve destroyed a perfectly good room in our room. house.”
She explained that when she went to find the paint in the garage and decided which room she wanted to do a “60 Minute Makeover” in, she hadn’t realized that it was lime wash – which should only be used “by a professional.”
She also didn’t have any brushes, so she had to use a small one before switching to using a tea towel.
And forget a dust sheet or gloves, she didn’t have those either.
Understandably, the painting process got a bit messy and some splatter ended up on the ceiling.
But instead of wiping away the paint spots, she decided to paint the ceiling as well — and “accidentally ended up with an entire room the same yellowish color.”
When her husband came home, he didn’t hold back and told her it looked “terrible,” especially with the tiles they had in the room.
But not to be defeated, Sarah hopped on the internet and ordered some self-adhesive tiles for next day delivery.
But she could only get them in green, admitting that the rest of her home is neutral because she “tends to mess it up when color is involved.”
She decided to stick the tiles to the tub as well – using nail glue in areas where they wouldn’t adhere properly – and thought it looked good.
But then she got up and realized it didn’t look good.
“It gave crocodiles in the outback, Kermit the frog, it’s not good,” she sighed.
Sarah then looked on Pinterest for inspiration to make the room work, and decided that a dark green ‘panel wall’ was the best choice.
Once again she thought it looked good, until she took a step back and realized it was anything but.
Sarah then thought it was the skirting board and decided to paint it the same dark green too, before changing her mind and wanting to add wood panelling.
But she hadn’t realized that the paneling didn’t come ready-made, so she spent up to 2am making her own panel – which she hated when she put it in place.

The next step was Sarah decided she didn’t like the radiator as it didn’t fit, so she painted it, but only half of it as it was sticking up above the top of the ‘panel’ she had painted.
She had used spray paint on the radiator and admitted that she inhaled so many fumes that she had to hang her head out of the window because she thought she was going to faint.
But she didn’t dare open the door for fear that her husband would smell it and come to see what was going on.
Sarah ended the video by revealing that she had just received an email that her new wall stickers had arrived, as she once again insisted: “I’m not going home.”
In another clip, she ended it by showing the green paint peeling off the wall – after accidentally reading that it was okay to paint over lime paint.
“What now?!” she asked.
Before you add the caption: “I’m over this – I just want to screw it up and throw it in the trash!”
