Attending a festival can be very expensive, from the tickets to the toiletries, but what people often comment on is how expensive food and drink are.

Over the years, prices have been reported to be nearly £10 for an adult beverage at festivals such as Reading and Leeds.

Vicka captioned the post, “How to secretly bring liquids to a music festival.”

Others complained about the prices festivals charge for alcohol, saying it wouldn’t be such a big problem if prices were lower.

“I don’t understand why they don’t allow fluids here, they just want to charge a higher price for Dodge,” one person responded.

A second said: “If they weren’t ripping people off we wouldn’t have to do this in the first place. [rolling eyes emoji].”

In June, people at Glastonbury were shocked by the high drink prices.

Bottles of prosecco cost a whopping £43 and pints of cider and draught beer cost £7.75.

How to Save Money When Buying Alcohol

Alcohol can be pricey if you’re planning a party or hosting an event, but there are ways to cut costs.

It’s always important to drink responsibly. Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements shares some tips for getting the best value for your drink.

Stocking up can help you save big on drinks, especially if you want to buy wine or bubbly.

The major supermarkets regularly offer discounts of 25% when you buy six or more bottles of wine. The promotions usually run in the run-up to occasions such as Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter.

If you know you’ll need booze later in the year, it might be worth taking action as soon as you see offers.

Before you buy your favorite drink, you should shop around to find the best price. You can use a comparison site like pricerunner.com or trolley.co.uk to do this.

Don’t forget that you can save more with a customer card, so keep that in mind too.

If you love your plonk, wine clubs can also be a great way to save money and try new varieties. You usually have to pay a membership fee in exchange for a lower price, so consider whether you’re buying enough to make the one-time cost worthwhile.

A single shot of spirits with a mixer cost £7.75, the same as a 175ml glass of wine.

“Some of those prices are insane. £43 for a bottle of wine! You could buy a quality wine for that money,” one person wrote on social media at the time.

A second said: “We need to stop this 12.50am Aperol Spritz nonsense!!”

“It’s not just on Glasto, all over the UK the prices are insane for no reason, in Italy is about £5!”

Although the prices may have seemed high, they were cheaper than many other places in London, where a beer can easily cost £7 or more.
