I save so much money buying Tesco F&F clothes thanks to a little known trick

FINDING the perfect cardigan is a challenge every summer.

Some make your armpits gape, while others make you feel like you’re wringing sausage meat in a sausage casing.

Racer vests are perfect for layering and are therefore very popular every summer.

However, some buyers claim they’ve found the perfect budget solution to our vest woes.

And it’s lurking in F&F in the children’s clothing department of Tesco.

Plain ribbed vests for 13 and 14 year olds are all the rage, but they don’t necessarily end up in the wardrobes of teenagers.

That’s actually because women have noticed that this teenage size is equivalent to the small for women.

Fashionistas claim that both vests feature the exact same ribbed racer style.

And according to some, the children’s tops not only fit ‘much better’, they are also a lot cheaper.

One ladies’ cardigan from the F&F range costs £7, while a pack of two cardigans from the children’s department costs £5.

That works out at just £2.50 per top.

These vests are becoming increasingly popular among women who have discovered that they have a tight, flattering fit.

One of the budget fashion hack’s fans is content creator Mia Lorrina, who took to Instagram to warn her followers.

I’m a size 10 and my best friend is a size 22. You need to get to Tesco’s F&F fast, our new swimwear looks great on everyone.

She called the style change a “no brainer.”

“I’ll still have to buy some children’s clothes for a while,” Mia wrote.

Worried about looking like a sheep dressed as a lamb? Fashionistas say you don’t have to.

“I’ve been doing this for ages,” shopper Ciara Clarke wrote under Mia’s video.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale says:

Supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, when you pop in to do your weekly shop, you can also pick up a selection of wallet-friendly, stylish items for the whole family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 percent rise in the quarter thanks to ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earned the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s George clothing line earned the supermarket £1.5m in 2023, 80 per cent of clothes at Sainsbury’s were sold at full price rather than discounted, and sales of Nutmeg at Morrisons have also risen by 2 per cent over the past year.

How is it that supermarket fashion is so successful?

The clothing is not only affordable but also of good quality, and much of the clothing is part of programs such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

They often stick to classic pieces that they know will last for years.

And because they buy so much stock, they can deliver quickly and the volumes are cheaper.

“I think the fit of children’s shirts and vests is identical to the small size for adults.”

Another customer claimed she “saved hundreds of dollars” thanks to this trick.

The vests from F&F’s children’s clothing line are versatile basics that, just like the adult versions, fit easily into any wardrobe.

Whether you wear it under a blazer for a polished look or with a tracksuit for a casual look, a nice ribbed cardigan is an essential wardrobe staple.

For budget-conscious shoppers, this fashion trick is a real game changer as it allows you to spend wisely.

By opting for these affordable yet stylish cardigans, you can free up more of your budget for investment items… or even your weekly grocery shopping.
