There are countless ways to come up with a name for your child, from sticking to family tradition to taking inspiration from the media.
But one trend that hasn’t gone down well is taking a common name and putting a twist on it by swapping the consonants, thus changing the spelling.
And a mother who decided to use this method for her daughter was criticized for it.
On social media she announced that her daughter’s name is Chozen.
In the photo, the UM had placed all the baby items that she had personalized with her daughter’s name.
These include pacifiers, bottles, bibs, babygrows and a blanket, all of which pink and gold theme.
The mother was clearly very excited and proud of the name she had chosen, but this did not apply to the other names.
Many people were shocked by the choice of name. Although it was clear that it was the word ‘Chosen’, spelled with a Z, many said it reminded them of something else: a chorizo sausage.
In Europe, Spanish chorizo and Portuguese chouriço are fermented, dried, smoked sausages that get their smoky flavor and deep red color from dried, smoked red peppers.
It can be sliced and eaten straight away, but it can also be added as an ingredient to add flavour to other dishes.
The post quickly went viral on the Facebook group, That name is not a tragedy, it’s a murderwith over 300 likes and hundreds of comments.
People quickly noticed that it was an odd spelling choice and that it reminded them of food.
Someone wrote: “When I saw the name my stomach started growling. Now I’m craving some spicy sausage!”
Another commented: “My brain: CHORIZO.”
