I sleep in my car all the time, I barely have room to sit up, but that’s not so bad
After a woman moved out of her rental apartment due to financial problems, she suddenly found herself living in her car.
She explained that her health problems left her a bit strapped for cash, but she still made the most of her living situation.
In her viral videoTikTok user Jamie (@heavytraveler) showed her followers how she sets up her car every night so that it sleeps.
The US poster was revealed in an earlier article video that she had to leave her apartment because she was having problems with her disability benefits.
She was unable to work due to mental health issues, mobility problems and the cost of living was high.
Jamie had to store her belongings before she could move into her car permanently.
She said she still visits her family for the occasional weekend and sleeps on the couch.
The TikTokker explained to her audience how she set up her bed and shared that she was still waiting for a 4-inch roll-out mattress from Amazon.
“I’m so tall, there’s not much headroom,” she explained, sitting upright on her makeshift bed.
Jamie said that for safety reasons, she often parks her car next to a busy area, such as a 24-hour gym.
She also puts curtains on her windows when she sleeps to create privacy.
“The key is a trillion pillows. I’m not lying, all of these pillows used to be on my bed. I’m just a pillow freak,” she told her viewers.
Jamie showed how she arranged the seven pillows into the shape of a bed.
She draped a fitted sheet over the mountain of pillows and sat so that her hips were not resting on the control panel.
Jamie lay with her head towards the back window and said she was “actually quite comfortable.”
She thanked her followers for their donations to her Amazon wish list and wished other motorists a happy camping holiday.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the lineup in the comments.
Rules for living in a car
CAR LIVING is on the rise as people struggle with the cost of living and others seek a nomadic existence.
This is everything we know about the rules for driving in the UK.
In the UK it is legal to live in your car as long as you follow a few rules.
The only condition is that your car has passed the MOT and is fully legal for public roads.
If the car is legally parked, there are no rules prohibiting sleeping or living in a car.
The trend of living in a car or van has become very popular in the United States, where people have been forced to leave their rental homes after landlords raised the rent.
Others have chosen to remain living in their vehicles and build a free, nomadic existence, traveling throughout the country.
There are certain circumstances where it is not legal to sleep in a car in the UK.
First, you must park in a safe parking lot without violating any parking rules.
In certain car parks, airports, and in national parks and forests, there are restrictions on overnight parking. This means that you are not allowed to stay overnight in a vehicle there.
If you break the rules, you could be fined or even have your vehicle towed.
Secondly, you must not be over the legal alcohol limit and must not be under the influence of drugs if you plan to sleep in your car.
If you are over the limit, you can be charged with driving under the influence in a public place, even if you are not driving.
The ban on sleeping in a car while drunk is laid down in the Road Traffic Act of 1988.
The rule says you can be found guilty of an offence if you are in charge of a vehicle on a road or public place “after consuming so much alcohol that the amount of alcohol in your breath, blood or urine exceeds the prescribed limit.”
“You are amazing! I hope you find a place soon,” wrote one viewer.
“Good job sweetie. Take care!” said another encouraging follower.
“I’m so sorry for everything that’s happened to you these past few months. You’re really struggling,” a third person commented.
“We all go through tough times. I hope you eventually get a breakthrough and get back on your feet,” wrote one viewer.
“I lived in my truck for a year, it was the happiest I’ve ever been. I miss it so much. You’re gonna be okay, good luck, babe,” another TikTok user said.
