I thought I was the hottest woman ever, and then I appeared on Love Island
Some leave the famous Love Island villa with the hefty prize of £50,000, others with lucrative brand deals waiting for them – or with the love of their life.
But Anna Vakili, who shot to fame after appearing on the show in 2019, left Love Island feeling pressure to completely change her appearance.
The now 34-year-old beauty made waves on the ITV dating show, where she quickly became known for her feisty personality, earning her one of the most explosive shows on the programme.
Ultimately, however, the pharmacist didn’t have much luck when it came to finding her one and only Romeo, and she’s since spilled the beans on some. Real took place in the famous villa.
Chatting with her sister, Mandi Vakili, on their Sisters in the City podcastAnna bravely opened up about how Love Island ultimately saw her revamp her image.
”Before I went on Love Island I always thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s me.’ So damn hot […]every man likes me.
“But when I was there, I suddenly felt like, ‘Oh my God, I’m not anybody’s type.'”
At the time, Anna, who appeared in season 5, had a deep tan, dark brown locks, heavy eye makeup and her signature “penned on eyebrows.”
Among the ”little blondes with blue eyes”, the former Love Islander felt different from the other female participants.
”To be honest, I don’t think I looked my best on Love Island; I look much better now.”
Mandi, the star’s younger sister, explained that in their London community at the time, “that was the look.”
”Drawn-on, sharp mountain-shaped eyebrows and massive lips – so big they looked like they were going to explode in your face.
”BBL stuff – all that stuff happened when you went to the bars in the Middle East. We were the shit.”
After taking another look at herself on the screen, Anna – who has 1.2 million followers on Instagram – noticed she had gone overboard with the improvements.
”I was like, ‘Oh my God, fillers are overboard, there’s all too much going on.’
“Then I went back to a more natural look – and I feel much better for it.”
Love Island All Stars 2025 Rumors
Love Island All Stars is returning for its second series in 2025 – and there are already rumors swirling about who will be making a comeback this time.
After the second All Stars series was announced in May, show boss Mike Spender said: “A lot of people have been in touch about it, a lot of nice people, from series one.
“We cast it because we knew what was happening behind the scenes and who was hanging out with who, and now even more stories have come out.
“I think we’re going to save ex-Islanders for All Stars now.”
A rumored name for the next series is data engineer Harry Baker.
Harry, 25, arrived at the villa in a bombshell in Series 11. He quickly ‘stole’ Grace Jackson after his debut.
Arriving late in the flight, it was only a few days before he was dumped next to Lola Deloca.
Despite the hunk’s short stint, viewers have been calling for Harry’s return.
One upset fan wrote: “Getting on All Stars next”, to which Harry cryptically replied by posting ‘shrugging’ emojis.
Anna made the decision to return to her day job after becoming disillusioned with the influencer lifestyle earlier this year.
The brunette beauty almost returned to TV screens last year when she almost appeared on Love Island: All Stars.
The 34-year-old threw show bosses into chaos after pulling out of the dating show just days before the cast were due to fly to South Africa.
A source at the time told The Sun: “Love Island producers were determined to get Anna on the All Stars series because she was part of one of the show’s highest-rated series ever, and viewers will never hear her blazing row forget. with fellow islander Jordan Hames.
“She was guaranteed to bring the drama, and that’s exactly what this series is about.
“Anna went to attend a series of meetings and even went so far as to book the medical that all islanders must complete before entering the villa, but changed her mind at the last minute.”
