I Thought My Huge Eyelash Extensions Were Awesome, But I Realized I Was ‘Lash Blind’

A YOUNG woman has revealed she used to think she looked good with eyelash extensions but has now stopped wearing them for good.

Beauty trends come and go. While many of us were once obsessed with long, fluttery lashes, it seems the tide is turning again.

A recent trend is that more and more women are sporting large eyelash extensions and heavy makeup in an attempt to embrace their natural beauty.

With false eyelashes out of fashion and the clean girl aesthetic all the rage, beauty and fitness enthusiast Blankita Cisneros decided to freshen up her look with a glow-down look, which many are saying is a good move.

The trend of the ‘clean girl aesthetic’ is based on the idea that ‘less is more’.

It enhances natural beauty rather than covering it up. To achieve this look, women are increasingly opting for a radiant complexion rather than a full-coverage matte foundation. They are also ditching heavy lashes and opting for an approach that focuses primarily on skin care.

And it looks like Blankita took some inspiration from it, as she ditched her fake lashes and opted for a more natural look.

The fashionista posted on social media and left her followers open-mouthed as she shared before and after photos of her glow-down.

At the beginning of her short clip, Blankita shared a video of herself wearing only a thin coat of mascara on her natural lashes.

She was clearly a real beauty, with her face very lightly made up. She laughed as she joined in with the audio that said, “I remember losing my mind.”

Shortly after, the owner of Athena Fitness Club, a private women-only training center, shared a click of her in the gym, before her glow-down.

Blankita wore a full set of huge, black fake eyelashes, making her eyelids barely visible.

Melanie’s Stunning Transformation

Alongside the photo, Blankita posted skull emojis, writing, “I’m convinced no one has suffered more from eyelash extension blindness than I have.”

She added, “Girl, there’s no way I was walking around like that.”

What is a ‘glow-down’?

We’ve all heard of a glow-up, but what is a glow-down?

A glow-down, similar to the ‘clean girl aesthetic’ trend, is rooted in the idea of ’less is more’.

It emphasizes natural beauty instead of hiding it.

With a glow-down, hair extensions, fake nails and eyelash extensions are a thing of the past.

To get a radiant skin, women are ditching fake beauty trends and opting for a natural approach that puts skin care first.

The brunette beauty later wrote: “I was a bloody fool.”

We think Blankita looks gorgeous with and without lash extensions, but her latest glow-down really made her natural beauty shine.

SOCIAL MEDIA USERS RESPOND

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @blankitacisneroshas clearly caused quite a stir, as the video quickly went viral and has now been viewed a whopping 2.2 million times.

Social media users were shocked by Blankita’s lashings and many expressed their displeasure in the comments.

Literally less is more

Someone said, “I honestly don’t understand how lash artists can let this happen.”

Another added: “Oh my god I’m so glad you woke up sis.”

Four Ways to Give Yourself a Glowdown

Thick, fluffy lashes are out, as are fake tan and long nails… here’s how to get the ultimate glow-down in four steps…

The term “glow-down” refers to a woman removing her makeup from what was once the most popular beauty choice, for a more natural look.

Eyelash extensions – Thick, bold “Russian lashes” used to be all the rage, but today girls are opting for subtle, individual eyelash extensions to lengthen their existing lashes.

Nails – The long, plastic claws are gone, more and more women prefer BIAB or gel-manis.

Hair colour – Remember when everyone wanted ice-cold white hair? Not anymore! Millions of women are trying to go back to their roots (literally) and add soft blondes and warm golds to their hair in an attempt to achieve the “old money blonde” look.

To think – Contouring your face shape is a thing of the past. Instead, women are adding freckles and sweeping blush across their cheekbones.

A third commented: “Why didn’t your friends tell you?”

While someone else wrote: “At least you are cured now!”

At the same time, another beauty fan wrote: “Literally, less is more.”

Meanwhile, one woman admitted: “My lash artist once left me like this, I cried!!! I never went back.”

Blankita responded to this and wrote: “Honestly, this was the beginning of the end for me.”

While one user asked, “How did you grow them back?”

Blankita responded and confirmed: “I literally left them alone. No renewals since August last year!!”
