I thought the Playboy Mansion would be glamorous, but it was full of mold and dust
FORMER Playboy models have revealed what it was really like inside the iconic Playboy Mansion.
While Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt thought life in Hugh Hefner’s £77million pad would be glitz and glamour, they soon realized that being a Playboy Bunny wasn’t as attractive as it was made out to be.
Both Playboy models were Hugh’s original girlfriends for years on The Girls Next Door – but while it all seemed full of wonder to many fans, the reality was much darker.
The Girls aired from 2005 to 2010 Next Door gave viewers a look inside the Playboy Mansion, starring Hefner’s then three main girlfriends Holly, Bridget and Kendra Wilkinson.
Bridget, 51, and Holly, 41, have since spilled the beans about what was Real takes place behind the closed doors of Hefner’s mansion, where the late magazine publisher lived until his death in 2017.
The bubbly couple – who have both since become TV personalities – met in the multi-million dollar property where they lived together for seven years.

During their time at the California pad, which had 29 rooms, the friends met some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jim Carrey, Cameron Diaz and George Clooney.
But in Hugh’s bedroom, where his girlfriends would undergo ‘robot sex’, it was hoarder style.
According to the former Playmates, who shared it all on their Girls Next Level podcast, the millionaire – who was known as the ‘Godfather of the Sexual Revolution’ – had mold, dust and clutter all over his room.
Bridget explained: “We walked in and it was just a disaster in there.
“The lights were off, but there were two giant TV screens showing porn…
“There’s just so much clutter.”
This was something Holly agreed with: “It was just hoarder style.
“Imagine thinking you’re a big player and you bring all these girls home and your room looks awful.

Bridget Marquardt
“It’s like the weird eccentric millionaire version of the guy with the mattress on the floor and a Pulp Fiction poster.”
Not only this, but in her memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, Hugh’s ex-wife Crystal Hefner, 38, shared similar thoughts.
Facts you didn’t know about the Playboy Mansion
Girlfriends versus playmates
Rumor has it that Hugh Hefner would have two to a dozen “girlfriends” with him at a time. These friends are not to be confused with Playmates. Each friend had her own room, but one ‘special lady’ was referred to as friend number one and stayed with Hef in his room. Each friend received a weekly bonus of $1,000 (£760).
Hef’s wild side
The Playboy mansion was home to a private zoo. It was one of the few private homes that actually had a zoo permit. Hefner was a fan of birds. Among his collection – many of which roamed the grounds – were peacocks, macaws, flamingos, toucans and ducks.
The Elvis legend
There was a secret room in the mansion called ‘The Elvis Room’. Legend has it that the king himself, Elvis Presley, had a small slumber party in the room with up to eight eager bunnies.
Hefner’s last wife, who met the shady lothario when she was just 21 and he was 60 years her senior, at a Halloween party in 2008, confessed: “Everything was moldy and dusty.
“It was just a hoarder in the center of the mansion.”

Stefon Tetelbaum
Similarly, in an interview for A&E’s Secrets of Playboy, Hefner’s former valet Stefon Tetelbaum recounted the process of retrieving used sex toys after one of the bedroom sessions and preparing them for the next.
She confessed: “I had to put on rubber gloves, pick up the dildos from the floor and put them in a special bucket.
“The maids brought them downstairs, sprayed them with a steam cleaner to sterilize them and then put them in plastic bags.
“I carried them back upstairs and put them back in the headboard.”
