I told my seven-year-old to name her school uniform, but she took me literally

A mother was forced to break out the stain remover when her daughter took her request to name her uniform a little too literally.

Sallay explained that she asked her seven-year-old child to take on the arduous task of putting her name on her entire school uniform.

Sallay took to TikTok to share her daughter's blunder

But instead of using name tags or a stamp, Zabella decided to put a pen on her freshly ironed shirts and write her name on the outside of the collars of the white shirts.

“See what my daughter did with her new school uniform?” Sallay wrote over it her TikTok video.

Sallay also admitted that she still had to buy a load of shirts for her daughter.

Or she could try to take out the pen, a permanent clothes pin.

People were left hysterical by the TikTok, with one writing: “In her defense you told her to put her name on the uniform without specifying where!”

“Lesson learned,” Sallay replied.

“When mom tells you to put your name on your stuff so you don’t lose it,” another added.

“Instructions well followed,” Sallay sighed.

“I mean credit where credit is due. At least it won’t get lost at school!’ a third pointed out.

“One thing I learned: be specific, very specific with children: I feel your pain!” said someone else.

My son came home caked in mud. His uniform is torn, but his excuse is funny

“I learned the hard way,” Sallay replied.

“I mean it won’t get lost or stolen,” laughed another.

“This is a story I have to tell again in many years, it made me laugh.”

“A+ for effort,” someone else said.

“I can’t stop laughing!” another admitted: “but i guess you want to cry?”

“I cried!” replied Sallay.

EXTRA HELP WITH SCHOOL UNIFORM COSTS

IF you can’t get targeted help from your local council, there may be other options available to you.

In some areas you can speak directly to your school, who may be able to offer you clothing.

Or maybe you can buy cheap clothes from discount stores or charity shops.

Some charities also provide assistance to families in need.

But keep in mind that charities often have a limited amount to give and typically have specific criteria that must be met to receive a grant.

Charity Turn2Us has a free grant search on its website to help you find out what help is available to you.

In the meantime, you can always try to contact your nearest Citizens Advice Office.

If you don’t know where the nearest Citizens’ Advice branch is, you can find out at www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/nearby/.

If you are not eligible for a school uniform grant, you may be able to get help through the Household Support Fund.

And when someone else said she clearly asked her to put her name on the collar, she hit back: “Inside, not outside, like we do every year!”

But others were convinced the uniform could be something of a fashion statement.

“Sorry mom, but I’m not going to lie – it looks so cool,” one person wrote.

“She’s going to be a fashion icon!”

“I hope she likes her custom uniform,” laughed another.

As someone else added: “She customized her shirts, very creative darling!”
