I transformed my dirty balcony into Little Italy with DIY – I feel like I’m abroad
You might think that you need a garden or a large outdoor space to make the most of summer, but one woman has proven that this is not true.
The clever homeowner showed how she transformed her small balcony into a little piece of Italy with a few minor adjustments.
Sarah, who is under post @saraheartmannfirst of all, the outdoor space was left empty of any objects, making it look bare and unattractive.
The first thing she did was add a vibrant pop of color by painting the wall red.
Next oneShe painted the balustrade a fresh white color and covered the lower half with a homemade panel wall.
Next it was time to recycle a wrought iron table and chair set, and Sarah showed how she spray painted it white.
Then it was time to give the wooden terrace a lick of paint to make it look fresher.
Sarah then bought a number of items for the now colourful terrace, including an outdoor rug, two large sun loungers, a parasol and red cushions.
She also added some nature in the form of potted plants, which added to a sense of calm.
Sarah wrote: “We created our own little Italy in Berlin Mitte.”
Many people were very impressed with her DIY work. One said: “It looks amazing!”
Another added: “I could use that in this heat.”
And a third commented: “Oh, you had a vision.”

He advises not to lock yourself in and instead make a distant landmark the focus.
He gives an example of how this can be achieved: “Hide fences with climbing plants and evergreen plants and let paths meander behind a hedge, panel or trellis so it looks like there is something interesting hidden behind it.”

The garden expert also advises anyone with an extremely narrow plot to lay out beds and lawns ‘diagonally’.
He adds that this can ‘trick your eyes into thinking the garden is bigger than it actually is.
Dan emphasises how important it is that your garden blends in with its surroundings.
One of his best tips is to use shrubs and climbers to fade visual boundaries, making the area appear endless.
